Obama's new tax structure will raise the percentage of people who pay no federal income taxes from 38% to 48% and many of that 48% will be getting checks. Sa-weet huh? Certainly the tipping point. Luckily not all of these people will vote but as more and more realize that it's sooo easy to expropriate the property of others using the powers of the state, and give it to themselves, they will.

It is appalling to believe that someone who has fought for the very ideals of this country would turn to socialism. However comma to me it seems that McCain's health plan is rather socialist as well, what with giving money ($5k/yr tax "rebate") to people who will probably never pay in that much so they can buy med insurance. Yeah, it sucks to have a minimum wage job, but why just settle for mediocre? This country allows for plenty of opportunity. Why don't some try to achieve instead of sitting on their asses with their hands out?

Well, they gave us the Electoral College as a tool to provide some insulation between the Presidency and "the people". It's just that the States don't use the tool as intended; this is either a Good Thing or not, depending on your personal preferences.

Actually the framers did think about it, thus the electoral college. The problem started with Lincoln and the rest of the fuckers that have been eroding state's rights ever since the civil war. The individual state governments have become so pussified because they want that almighty federal dollar.
