Jay Defends The Media

In the aftermath of prolly the worst case of media bias during a presidential campaign, one of the rat bastard commies of the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation, Jay Bookman defends the media

The media get blamed for a lot of things, and that’s OK. We dish out the criticism freely, and sometimes we get too thin-skinned about facing return fire.

Sometimes? Howsa 'bout all the time.

In some cases, though, we get blamed simply for being the messenger. It is not the media’s fault, for example, that Sarah Palin wasn’t qualified to be vice president. We didn’t pick her, and it’s not our fault that, according to the McCain campaign staff, she didn’t know that Africa was a continent.

No. It was the media's fault for declaring that Palin, who has more executive experience than the other three candidates put together, was not qualified to be president. It was the media's fault for saying that Jug Hussein Ears, with only two years in the Senate, and who has spent most of that two years running for president, was qualified to be president. He happens to be the most inexperienced man we have ever elected to be president. As for the Africa bullshit, that came from an "anonymous staffer". Knowing the credibility of the LSM that charge is suspect. And let's compare that to JHE's comment about their being 57 states. Yeah, Jay, you guys have really done a great job. Next.

Back in the early days of the Iraq war, you may recall, the media also got a lot of criticism for “not reporting all the good things that were happening in Iraq.” Everybody from the president and generals to actor Bruce Willis and citizens writing letters to the editor were complaining about the harsh reports coming out of Baghdad and Anbar province.

Since the LSM wanted us to lose the war, I guess Jay is right on this point.

There were insinuations and even allegations of treason, and claims that the left-wing media wanted the United States to lose the war or were simply playing out their anti-Bush bias. Conservative commentators such as Ralph Peters, a former infantry officer, claimed that “the body count cherished by the media is the number of our own troops dead and wounded,” suggesting that reporters were playing into al-Qaida’s hands.

Which they were. What's your point?

But what happened next is important. That reporting created a political momentum for change in both U.S. strategy and leadership. After the ‘06 midterm elections, President Bush finally ended months of denial and acknowledged the truth, that events in Iraq were spiraling out of control and that “the situation in Iraq is unacceptable to the American people and it is unacceptable to me.”

Yippee for the press! They had thought they had achieved their goal and we would withdraw from Iraq.

Bush fired Donald Rumsfeld as secretary of defense, appointed a new commanding general for Iraq in David Petraeus, and announced what came to be known as the surge.

Which the Dimocrats and the LSM were firmly against. The New York Slimes even published an ad (at reduced rates) for Moveon.org calling General Petreaus "General Betrayus". Very classy, moonbats. Harry Reid called the war "lost" and the LSM agreed with him.

Whatever the future holds for Iraq, it is undeniably a more secure place today than it was a few years ago. And it was the media, doing its duty by reporting honestly, that helped create the political space and political momentum to allow that change to take place.

So now Jay is saying that he and the LSM were responsible for the surge, something they were firmly against and said wouldn't work. Toto, we aren't in Kansas anymore.

The American system is built on a faith in the truth. And while none of us can know that truth in its entirety, we do know that our nation’s best interests are not served by trying to silence information either through government rule or by public intimidation.

Ah yes. "The truth". Where was that quest for "the truth" during the Clinton administration?. Where was that quest for "the truth" during the last election? The LSM dug up more dirt on Sarah Palin in 48 hours than they did on JHE in two years.

The New York Slimes published a rumor about McRINO and a lobbyist having an affair and it took the National Enquirer to break a story about John Edwards.

The LA Slimes sat on a tape of JHE speaking to a pro-Palestinan group where JHE made some anti-Israel remarks.

They downplayed his associations with Jeremiah Wright, Calypso Louie, and Bill Ayers. Just think if McRINO had had anything to do with a white supremacist church. How long do you think the LSM would have made that page one news?

That applies across the board. At the moment, conservatives have worked themselves into a frenzy at the thought that Democrats might try to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. That rule, abolished in 1987, required broadcast outlets to give equal amounts of time to competing viewpoints. Conservatives fear that if the policy is reinstated, it will doom conservative talk radio.

Dimocrats have already gone on record as wanting to re-institute the Fairness Doctrine. They cannot compete with conservative talk radio (Hello Airhead America) so they want to destroy it. That is the rat bastard commie way. Now I wouldn't have any problems with the Fairness Doctrine if it also applied to television, radio, and newspapers. Unfortunately that won't happen. The rat bastard commies want to control everything. That's what they do. The USSR had Pravda, we have the LSM, which has become nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Dimocrat Party.

Personally, I think that fear has been ginned up by the conservatives themselves to satisfy their need to feel persecuted. If Democrats really did try to push such a change, it would be both a big surprise and a foolish mistake, and I expect it wouldn’t get very far.

I hope you're right Jay.

Nice try in trying to defend the LSM for their disgraceful performance during this election. The American public now realizes just how disgraceful your bias was during the election. Now they're gonna see your bias even more as you try to defend all of BozObama's fuckups during the next four years.

You successfully got your wet dream and elected the first black president. You're hoping he'll be David Palmer. Sorry. David Palmer was a fictional president. We're gonna get a black Jimmah Carter.

And the NY Slimes has a front page headline today that reads:

Secret Order Lets U.S. Raid Al Qaeda

I guess they will never stop undermining our governments quest to protect our citizens.

Same piece of shit rag that reported our survellience activities. Which their chief editor later agreed that was inappropriate and dangerous.

Should have sued the living crap out of them.

Oh, and all those "leaks" to the press from state dept liberals.

No action ever taken from the justice dept.

The only time I get a truly sick feeling in my gut is when I relaize O shit will be appointing 2 - 3 Supreme Court Judges.

Talk about CHANGE.

And the LSM and Biden will be right there as propronents of the selection of liberal un-american ACLU bags of shit who believe that the constitution is a living document.

We're fucked.

So, when they start passing laws, that stand up to Supreme Court muster, that require the turning in and confiscation of firearms, whataya gonna do?

"according to the McCain campaign staff, she didn’t know that Africa was a continent."

Umm, how about them checking the facts as it was not a McCain staffer. And didn't Rumsfeld resign? What's with this fired crap? Was that too made up? These people (MSM) are in such a state of denial of the harm they have done to this country that now they want to take credit for the surge and it's affect? Un fucking believable. We can all do our part by not 1) buying the rags at the newstands 2) Not having it delivered 3) No "hitting" their websites and 4) supporting the less biased sources on the internet. It's 2008. Who needs the MSM anyway? OTher than the magical negroe that is.

Thanks, Denny. I read the same drivel with the same thoughts. Thanks for putting into words what I felt.

Exactly what the fuck is Jay Bookman sniffing? Does this asshole read what he writes, or does he just type until his hands cramp up?

Seems the Lame Stream Media keeps falling for the phonies. MSNBC go hooked by a phony McCain staffer and put him on the air. Boo Hoo Hoo there is not such guy on the McCain or Palin staff. Worse the guy admitted he did it as a hoax on MSNBC after they aired the interview. So that means all the rest of the stories are simply that, stories.

Yep!

Just like the Bible!

The press is no longer worthy of the name. With the exception of the local "if it bleeds it leads" items, what is available are various propaganda pieces. Yeah, Fox stands accused as well.

I hate having to figure out the truth of what I see and hear. Worse yet, I hate to wonder about the news that never made it because it did not fit with the STORY they wanted to tell. I know they lie by omission and comission.

There is a need going unfilled for unbiased news and the network that can best fill the void will do very well.

Better than boycotting the newspapers is do what I did with the NY Times.

Order it for delivery and not pay for it. They eventually stop delivering, so I order it again and not pay for it. They keep delivering without looking up what a deadbeat I am.

I can't be bothered continuing the ploy because the whole concept of newspapers and newspaper delivery is terrible. Super high carbon footprint.

The process of creating the paper, the vehicles used to deliver it, etc............................... Way out of date.

The fairness doctrine repealment got about 16 democratic co-sponsors in the house (out of 230-some), and crickets in the senate.

No major liberal bloggers or activist groups have supported it, nobody in the networks gives a shit. Liberal america doesn't care about re-instating the fairness doctrine, or taking people's guns away, or specious applications of the Laffer curve. It's not 1985 anymore.

The fairness doctrine has been a big issue in the rightwing media in the days just after the election, mostly as a sort of reflexive- crotch guarding. Liberals arn't actually trying to hit conservatives there, but conservatives are in a kind of jumpy mood.

Indy.......

I suggest you read a bit & see what Obama has said concerning the Fairness Doctrine as a tool to muzzle conservative talk show`s, guns & the Constitution. You take his beliefs coupled with the cheerleader`s from the Main Stream Media & a crusade is born.
