Venezuela just committed suicide over the weekend. They removed term limits from their constitution. Now Hugo is dictator for life and has free rein to continue destroying their economy. Their inflation rate is already over 30%. We will now be able to have another case study on the "success" of socialism and nationalization of businesses. This is exactly what the Dims want for our country. Will we be able to pull ourselves away from Survivor and American Idol long enough to prevent it?

As many parallels as we can draw I know the Libs will deny them all away as their 'messiah' is the chosen one!

No. They are so blinded by the light of his majesterial head. Chavez is an asshole of the highest order. I say we send all those Hollyweird actors who worship him down there to live now. Starting with that asshole Danny Glover.

No,they won't. Look for the Ohole to try to eliminate term limits here, down the road a bit.

As long as I draw breath I will resist. Prolly won't do any good but I will resist none-the-less.

we talk about Obama but fact is that we have already had a president much like Chavez. He did not like term limits so he ran 4 times. He did not like the supreme court so he tried to expand it to 12 members, he did not trust the private sector so he nationalized all he could.

you all know who I am talking about. FDR. It boggles my mind why we deify him today. He oversaw the most protracted economic slowdown in American History. I get that Harding left him a pile of crap but it when he took office unemployment was at 22%. When the japs attacked it was still 15%... wtf? 8 years into his presidency. I would have had such FDR-derangement syndrrome.

This guy gets way way way too much credit.

If the price of oil stays at or below $40 per barrel for a year or so Chavez will be toast. There's no way he can keep Venezuela's economy going without a serious influx of cash and $40 oil won't cut it.

Posted by: Ralph Gizzip on February 16, 2009 06:41 PM

The price of oil will not mean a thing to this ape.

Look at Cuba.....the leaders do not give a shit if the people are dying.

The country needs and will get a military coup.

Obama will bail him out. No need to drill in country for oil when a friend just south of the border can use the help.

This will be Sarah's first piece of business in four years.

Chavez did the same thing Obama is doing. He threw the masses a chicken wing when they were hungry and then gave them a ball to play with.

It doesn't take much to entertain an idiot.

Hugo Castro. Just another target in need of a rifleman.

Posted by: Jeremy on February 16, 2009 10:01 PM

Germany suicided when they elected Hitler Chancellor.

Venezuela just did the same when they gave Hugo relief from term limits.

We may have done the same thing early last November.

This is very dangerous for us. Watch Chavez and Mexico. We don't need a country like that on our borders. Having the Mexico we have NOW is bad enough... having a Mexico with Chavez type influence... could get very ugly for us.

And yes, I agree Obama will try to get rid of term limits. Key... 48% of America didn't vote for him.

Posted by: Bou on February 16, 2009 11:15 PM

Chavez will end up like all dictators. With a bullet in his head.

Posted by: snafu on February 16, 2009 11:16 PM

Don't worry about Chavez, worry about the bill in our own house of crazies making Hussein O president for life. Led by someone as crazy as Peeeloshi it just might pass.

Obama sux! Denny rules.

I read recently that Russia's budget needs were predicated on oil at $93/barrel. Oh well...

Posted by: emdfl on February 17, 2009 09:35 AM

Rep. Serrano ( D ) NY has a bill pending in congress ( H.J. Res. 8 ) to repeal the 22nd Amendment to allow Obama to do the same thing as Venezuela is doing for Hugo. Hope/Change.

What we need is an ammendment that strips all congress critters of retirement unless it is voted to them on an individual basis by the voters of their state, and paid with state funds.
Sure Massiveclueless would give floater and traitor a huge hand out, but how many others would get it?
Require that they carry a 2/3 majority, and very few would.

Posted by: Jeremy on February 17, 2009 10:47 AM

In all fairness, I doubt most people voted either way.

Chavez has been running the elections for the last 5 years without any oversight.

Think of it like Chicago, except... Well, no, pretty much, just like Chicago.

And the JHE government endorsed the suicide:

I love Hugo Chavez. I wish he ruled here. We have to settle for Obama. Ugh.
