Another Gitmo Solution

Send the terrorist dudes at Club Gitmo to the Netherlands. Thanks to Mike for the link.

The Dutch justice ministry has announced it will close eight prisons and cut 1,200 jobs in the prison system. A decline in crime has left many cells empty.

The supermax prison that Jug Hussein Ears suggested for the stinkbeards has only one bed available. The Netherlands has eight prisons available. Plenty of room at the inn and it would save jobs. It's win/win. We get rid of our camel boinkers and they can keep their prisons open.

During the 1990s the Netherlands faced a shortage of prison cells, but a decline in crime has since led to overcapacity in the prison system. The country now has capacity for 14,000 prisoners but only 12,000 detainees.

I realize that we can only send them 250 prisoners, but every little bit helps.

Deputy justice minister Nebahat Albayrak announced on Tuesday that eight prisons will be closed, resulting in the loss of 1,200 jobs. Natural redundancy and other measures should prevent any forced lay-offs, the minister said.

The overcapacity is a result of the declining crime rate, which the ministry's research department expects to continue for some time.

Want your crime rate to rise? Let in more Moo-slime immigrants. That will take care of that.

Some reprieve might come from a deal with Belgium, which is facing overpopulation in its prisons. The two countries are working out an agreement to house Belgian prisoners in Dutch prisons. Some five-hundred Belgian prisoners could be transferred to the Tilburg prison by 2010.

Dudes! We can send you 250. You should be glad to help us close Club Gitmo. I'm sure the rat bastard commie Dimocrat Congress would be willing to pay you to take the terrorist dudes off of our hands

What's their secret? Japan only had an 8% return-to-crime rate post-release data showed a few years ago, wonder if that's still the case. 'Course they actually punished their prisoners instead of treating them like they were guests at the Ritz-Carlton.

Most European countries like Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, etc, have strict gun laws.

Hence not a whole lot of crime.

The Netherlands decrimanalized drugs, that is what caused the empty prisons. Same thing would happen here too.

It is all in the wording... Would love to know what is really going on.

Besides, muzzies are not capable of crime from all I hear. They are either insane (makes it OK) or it is a religious duty (makes it OK).

Trust any gov anymore? I think I finally lost all that there is to loose :-(.

{spit}.

I can dang near double it. there are 233 dims in the house. lets send them too.

Rich~ they had strict gun laws ten years ago when they had a prison shortage. I'm all for less crime too but lets tap the brakes there comrade.

Have to call bullshit on your comment Rich. The U.S. violent crime rate hovers around 500 per 100,000 people. The Dutch Central Bureau for Statistics shows a violent crime rate of 625+ per 100,000. Perhaps the empty prison issue has more to do with law enforcement, the justice system or the stress relieving properties of De Wallen and Gedoogbeleid.

Am I right that $80 million is the cost for closing Club Gitmo?

That's only $320,000 per prisoner, right?

Enough to _____________ (fill it in)...

Journalist Adam Curry said on his blog it's because the Netherlands have been "decriminalizing" many offenses in order to meet pre-announced quotas, just as they did in England (where certain types of burglary are no longer recorded in the records as a crime).

Apples and Oranges dude, Apples and Oranges. One doesn't have anything to do with the other as study after study has proven.

Rich.......

First , if you check comparisons of apples to apples you will find your statement is nonsense.

Second , crime has everything to do with an lack of responsibility or respect for the rights of your fellow citizens. A gun like a knive,ball bat or tire iron are all potential instruments of crime , conversely in the hands of a determined individual prepared to defend their person....they are a deterrent to crime.

Third , A society which mandates appropriate no nonsense penalties for legitimate crime & has a populance well grounded into respect for law & order generally has very low crime rates. As example`s Japan with strict gun control laws[imposed after WW2 by the US Military] or Switzerland a country which promotes gun ownership & has never been invaded.
Four..Gun Control organizations are not truthful when it comes to guns & crime. If they did resort to truth, the argument they present would fall apart. As an example in almost every modern society or American city which imposed gun control crime has risen & conversely where Gun restrictions were abolished crime went down but the Gun lobby will not tell you or admit this.
5. I am not telling you to purchase or use a weapon as that is an individual choice but do not think imposing your views on another when they fly in the face of the truth is a legitimate or proper method to address the criminal/crime problem.

Also, it is my understanding that the Netherlands did not decriminalize drugs, According to a documentary on BBC America, the allow the "Coffee Shops" to sell weed and hash as a way of controlling it, thus removing the "Street" element. They feel it is more controled, people know what they are getting, and thus its safer,

Possession of small amounts of cannabis for personal use has been decriminalized in the Netherlands. The sale of cannabis is technically an offence under the Opium Act, but prosecutorial guidelines provide that proceedings will only be instituted in certain situations. An operator or owner of a coffee shop (which is not permitted to sell alcohol) will avoid prosecution if he/she meets the following criteria:

* no more than 5 grams per person may be sold in any one transaction;
* no hard drugs may be sold;
* drugs may not be advertised;
* the coffee shop must not cause any nuisance;
* no drugs can be sold to minors (under age 18), nor may minors enter the premises; and
* the municipality has not ordered the establishment closed.

About sending the undesireables to Mrs. Palin's country - might not be a bad idea after all.
Lotsa places to dig and shovel out there in the wilderness. Lotsa people who know how to use rifles. And there wouldn't be any 'upkeep' needed for the inmates, just the price of one-way tickets.
