Recently the Germans have begun re-viewing WWII from the aspect of their being victims of quite a few crimes and humiliations at the hands of the Allies, particularly the Russians and Americans.

Should be fairly easy to Google . . . for instance the resurgence of treatment of the bombing of Dresden as a war crime. Some of them are still on a guilt trip similar to the ol' black oppression thingy we can't seem to shake as a nation, but quite a few are trying to work themselves up into a snit or a huff or a tizzy or something over "brutalities" and "crimes against humanity" for some of the carpet & fire bombing by the allies and rape & theft by the Russians.

Wouldn't surprise me if they demanded reparations from the British for being snotty and condescending and from the French for being snobby and sarcastic.

Europe thought`s............

This is for Prosper, There is a Europe grateful for our help , there is a Europe who honor`s our fallen soldiers , there is a part of Europe devastated by the other side of Europe for who the United States was a beacon of hope & inspiration. There is a portion of Europe who was our enemy in two world wars which became closely allied with us. These all still exist, but as time passes, memories dim then people age & pass on. There was a Europe whose ass with our allies ass we kicked & a Europe whose ass we saved ......Now we are left to deal with the new Europe.

The new Europe still acknowledge`s we were there but in a minority role. Yes, America helped, but they who were defeated in a matter of days or weeks were the real deal when it came to winning the war not America....Too bad America made such a mess of the scenery & environment while they were in Europe. The marshall plan ....Well, Europe was entitled given the destruction America caused here.

There are still some of the old European`s who remember the truth & who remain grateful but their number`s dwindle each year. Now we are dealing with the new arrogant European`s who really do remember but choose to ignore what America did & sacrificed for the Ancestors of most of America. The mantra today is anti-Americanism , allegiance to the UN as long as it is actively castigating America. Some of this generation or group even let their venom spill over to the internet where they post anti- America sentiment & feelings.

It is this latter group which receives a healthy ass kicking from the true American Patriot`s here in the United States. Some things never change as Europe in one fashion or another seems to desperately need its ass kicked on a regular basis, this modern Europe prefers a war of words.

Dudley,

What is going on with Europe goes on everywhere time passes and people grow complacent. There are places in Germany and France where the Screaming Eagle emblem from the 101st is displayed on their window. None of the people that are talking about this barbarism are the elderly I am sure. Dresden was horrible because civilian/non combatant deaths should be avoided, but Dresden is a drop in the bucket compared to all who died because of Germany's aggression. Those that have lived through the horror of the WWII are few and far between now. The same can be said. At Camp Casey, Stanly, and Humphry in Korea there are routine "student protests" about Americans being there. And of course the random dirtbag Soldier kills, rapes, or something and then the focus shifts as if all servicemen do this type of thing. But, you won't see any S. Koreans who are up in age bitching about the U.S. occupying bases there. There is a distinct difference between schoolbook memories and having lived through terrible times. I think there are things that the U.S. could do better, but all in all I am proud of the impact that the U.S. has made in the world.

The continent of Europe for the most part is ungrateful. The axis countries need to STFU. For those in Germany who do not understand they should read their constitution and brush up on the term "unconditional surrender". Maybe we should reconvene Nuremberg.

Today's Intel tip

I have been watching lots of the rioting in Iran today on the internet. I noticed during several of the clips that the monkey's police wearing all black were speaking arabic to each other. Weird as hell because all Iranians speak farsi, not arabic. looks like the monkey has brought in arabs to beat his own farsi people down. Syria? Lebanon? Oman?

Inbred redneck....

Thanks Rob, somehow I thought you would see it my way.

Dkelsmith....I also agree that there are something`s we could have done better but Monday morning is always better for formulating strategy for the week before. What counts is the decisions made at the time in the heat of battle.....on that score we have done pretty well with occasional screwups & yes there are some dirt bags among our forces.

But given the history of WW1 & WW2 there can be no doubt we did mighty things for the benefit of the world at large & Europe in particular with the present day reality for much of Western Europe very forgetful as to who sacrificed so much for them.

If some people in Germany want reparations from the U.S., they will probably get them, along with many profuse "apologies" from Komrade Zero. At the same time the Jews, as well as Gypsies, and members of the European gay community, should be demanding reparations from Germany for the holocaust. Remember that Gypsies and homosexuals were treated exactly the same as the Jews.

I'm alwasys hearing about Dresden. In my living room are two paintings. both purchased by my grandfather, a Polish immigrant, as he walked the streets of London after the war. Churches that were bombed out brought out their artwork to fire sale it, hoping to raise a few sheckles to rebuild the roofs. Were there soldiers in these churches? were the churches building munitions?

The Germans wantonly bombed London fully knowing that it was full of women and children, trying to break the English spirit. war sucks. best not to start it is my best advise to the Germans.

Hey, Dudley, one would almost think you're one of those guys who has actually read a little history.
We had a German family in our neighborhood. The father was a painting contractor who'd had lots of business before the war, but because he had a big sign at his house with his obviously German name, he had his windows broken out repeatedly, starting in '42. If my Grandfather (another contractor) hadn't taken on lots of work and sub-contracted it out to our neighbor, my parents said he'd never have made it.
Not to make light of what happened to the Japanese in this country during the war, but some of the "white" folks suffered discrimination, too. Guess that war's hell on non-combatants in all countries, huh?
We also had some other folks who were around after the war, while I was growing up. I've seen more than one tattooed wrist, so I know that the stories of the death camps are real, too. Ain't it amazing how there're actually folks in this country who'll deny that, no matter how much reading they do?
And you know what? Even now, knowing how things have turned out, I'd still have done the same thing on August 6 and 9, 1945 that our CinC did.
Every time I meet somebody who served in WWII, I shake their hand and thank 'em for what they did.

Hey, Denny, that's pdb's line.

Seriously.

I saw him say it on an IRC channel back between 96-98.

Yeah.....That is one of the reasons I continue to pay my respects by visiting local Cemetery`s on holidays to reflect on their sacrifices. In a recent post I commented on a cemetery where many lay sleeping from WW1 under the figure of a Doughboy which I visited to pay respect. We should never forget or minimize they served to protect all of us. When I see or hear someone mock or dishonor our fallen men .........I react because they cannot. Being patriotic is not currently in favor for a large segment of our population but when the shit hits the fan ....then patriotism will be reborn in the miscreant`s.
