A Vent

The following was in today's Vent in the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation.

Anyone charging $165 for a pair of jeans is a robber.

Let me fix that for this booger eatin' moh-ron.

Anyone charging paying $165 for a pair of jeans is a robber an idiot.

There. That's much better.

I used to buy nothing but Levi jeans since my mom bought me my first pair when I was a mere lad. I didn't like them because they were too big for me. She told me they would shrink. She also told me that these were the jeans that the big boys wore. She was right. Then she got pissed when they were what I wanted to wear all the time.

A few years back, I got pissed at Levi Straus and now I just go to Wal-Mart and buy Wranglers. They're cheaper and they wear just as well.

When IBM went business casual I started wearing Dockers. When I got pissed at Levi Straus I started buying my slacks at Wal-Mart as well. They're cheaper than Dockers.

I've got more important things to spend my money on than clothes. I spend it on stuff like dive gear, ski gear, wine, and travel.

This from a guy who used to wear Brooks Brothers suits.

The infrastructure in Atlanta is falling apart. Shirley Franklin lets disabled cops starve and furloughs others. This parking deck was not even occupied, and they have been working on it two days. If an earthquake hits we are screwed. Our country is falling apart.

Twits in Atlanta are all about everything but what involves work.

I gave up suits 20-years ago when AT&T and I parted company. And believe me they didn't need a pry-bar to seperate us. Funny coincidence AT&T's stock started to fall shortly after I divested myself of all their shares.

Mostly I wore Levi Strauss jeans but then I discovered:

Dickies are cheap, wear pretty well and what you can't find in Wal-Mart you can order on line.

I wear Gap jeans. Allegedly made by underpaid third-world children, but who cares. They're good jeans at a good price.

fubar - And Shirley Franklin is considered to be a good mayor, but then compared to Maynard Jackson and Bill Campbell she is. I'm glad I live in Dunwoody and not Atlanta.

No shit. I think Massell was the last one worth a shit. They are still working on the parking deck. And Michael Jackson is still fucking dead. Damn. The RWPP's are milking that one good.

Few years back, when I still watched network news, they had some blip(BIG news, right) on the Rolling Stones tour, and how much tickets cost. Some clown was bitching that "They shouldn't be allowed to charge that much, so more people can see them."

Dumbass, they charge that much because fools were willing to pay that much; the concerts were sellouts. If people WEREN'T willing to pay that much, they WOULDN'T charge that much.

Like Levis years ago. Then they turned into a 'socially conscious' company, i.e. supporting gun banners and such, and kept raising their prices. Goodbye Levis, hello Wally World. Now Wally World is sucking up to The Obama, I'll have to get them somewhere else.
