Rude French Tourists

i haven't done any French bashing lately so I'm way overdue with this. Patrick posted this link in the comments of a previous post.

French tourists seen as world's worst: Survey

Dammit! When did that happen? I thought we Americans were the worst tourists. I guess now we have to settle for second place.

PARIS (Reuters Life!) – French tourists are the worst in the world, coming across as bad at foreign languages, tight-fisted and arrogant, according to a survey of 4,500 hotel owners across the world.

Arrogant? The French arrogant? I'm shocked!

They finish in last place in the survey carried out for internet travel agency Expedia by polling company TNS Infratest, which said French holidaymakers don't speak local languages and are seen as impolite.

Impolite? The French are impolite? I'm shocked!

"It's mainly the fact that they speak little or no English when they're abroad, and they don't speak much of the local language," Expedia Marketing Director Timothee de Roux told radio station France Info.

They're just pissed that English has become the international language. They long for the days of 100 years ago when it was French. Sorry Froggies. No one wants to speak French anymore.

The French don't go abroad very much. We're lucky enough to have a country which is magnificent in terms of its landscape and culture," he said, adding that 90 per cent of French people did their traveling at home.

Where they can be rude to other French people.

"So when they're on holiday they can be a bit stressed, they're not used to things, and this can lead them to be demanding in a way which could be seen as a certain arrogance."

Stressed? After leaving their 32 hour a week job?

French tourists are also accused of generally spending less than other nationalities when abroad.

Tightwads!

De Roux said the French, not accustomed to leaving large tips at home where a service charge is automatically levied on restaurant bills, can seem "tight-fisted" compared with other nationalities.

They're prolly not used to the better service they get outside of France.

The Japanese ranked top of the Best Tourist survey, with the British and the Germans judged the best of the Europeans.

And the Americans? The article doesn't say.

But French tourists received some consolation for their poor performance, finishing third after the Italians and British for dress sense while on holiday.

The Brits dress better than the French. BVWAHAHAHAHAHA! They prolly smell better as well. Brits actually bathe.

They're not very good hosts now, either.

Shhhhhh! Don't give His Obamaness any ideas or he'll start mandating a "service tax" to be collected on top of tips, and use it as a way to further redistribute the wealth.

As my mother said (having spent a LONG time in europe as a CDAF): "The french never forgive a favor"...

must admit the Japanese part confused me. Never been around a Japanese tourist who did not try to cut in front of me in line.

Dudley1 -In WW2, the French were not only bad hosts to the Germans. They were rude with their liberators. And they haven't improved their attitude ever since.

Uh, isn't this in the standard eurotwat list of grievances against us evil Amerikkkans: that we don't explore the rest of the world enough to their satisfaction? Now, it appears that their own impeccably high standards aren't applied to themselves. Quel surprise.

French tourists seen as world's worst: Survey

How come the list doesn't include Iran and North Korea.

Both of them should be slightly above France.

By the way the Brits only fair well because they don't come out of their hotel rooms till midnight, drink themselves into a stupour on alcoholic cider mixed with warm beer and Vodka coolers then pass out about 5 AM and are returned to their rooms in wheel barrels by the local sanitation crew (binmen to the Brits).

And the Irish are even worse....

Do you realize a real Irishman would step over 10 naked, horny, blonde models to get to a pint of Guinness?

I ran across some French travelers at a beach resort in Mexico. Did I mention that it was a topless beach. The women were very friendly and spoke English very well. Did I mentin it was a topless beach. The women were all sitting between me and the ocean so I had two very nice views. Did I mention that it was a topless beach. Well, one of the husbands was a bit rude. I guess he did not like me staring at his wife's chest.

I just visited Zion National Park on Tuesday and I heard more French being spoken by tourists than English. My opinion of them was neutral they ignored me an dI ignored them...hey they are here spending money, right.

I know some French people who have traveled here and I have never heard a negative comment. They all say how nice and welcoming the people are here in the US. They all comment on the friendly and good service received. They tell me how well it compares to the crappy service they normally get at home.

Oh and and Italian tourist hit my car from behind at a light in Rapid City S.D. He said that he was not used to the automatic transmission. There was no apparent damage so he did not want to give me any information. They didn't speak good english. It was a couple that just arrived for their honeymoon. It seemed like they thought I was going to try to scam them...perhaps that is what they are used to in Italy. ...that's my guess.

They finally gave me enough information, so I wouldn't call the police.

Just spent 8 days at a Turkish resort LOADED with French tourists. We were there with 13 other family members. Some brave French SOB started yelling at our kids at a table because one of them let a fart slip. I had gone back to our hotel room to get my insulin. So then when my wife goes to talk to him, he starts on her. Well...6'2' 270lb me shows up and wonders why my son is in tears. What? A strange Frenchman just starts laying into my son and wife? I yelled out to him from across the patio, made eye contact and stared him down. Let's just say "Big brave Froggie who can easily yell at a woman and a kid...turns pretty cowardly when approached by someone who can handle him. Then I gazed at him angrily when we all got up and eventually left the patio 25 minutes later. He didn't get up and do much yelling then either. Pussy...Or should I say "le petit chat". He stayed clear of our path for the rest of the week.
