Let's hear it for global warming climate change. Chicago is experiencing the coldest July in 67 years.
CHICAGO (CBS) ― Have you you left your air conditioner in the closet this summer, and worn long pants more often than shorts? If so, you may not be surprised to find out that Chicago is seeing its coldest July in more than 65 years.
Has Pope Albert I of the Church of AGW taken up residence in Chcago?
The National Weather Service says 2009 has seen the coldest July since the official recording station was moved away from the lakefront in 1942. The average temperature this month in Chicago has been a mere 68.9 degrees.
But I thought the planet was warming. Has Chicago been exempt from global warming? Or maybe Jug Hussein Ears took all the hot air with him to Washington DC.
Even in the years before 1942, when the National Weather Service recorded temperatures at the cooler lakefront, there are only three years that had colder Julys through the 26th.There have also been far more days than usual with high temperatures less than 80 degrees this year. In 2009, there were 13 days where the temperature did not exceed 80 degrees. Only three Julys in the past 67 years have had more days in Chicago with highs less than 80 – there were 18 such days in 1992, and 14 in 1996 and 2000.
We have also failed to reach 90 degrees at any time this month.
Yep! Sounds like global warming to me.
But the good news is that homeowners this summer have been seeing a big break on their electric bills. Air conditioning usage, according to ComEd earlier this month, is way down from last year and has saved residents an average of $50 since June, compared with last year.In addition to the mild weather, Com Ed's cost of power was also down 9 percent as of July 17, a savings passed on to you. Your natural gas price has been down even more, 27 percent. Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas estimate a typical home customer will pay $500 less this year than last year.
Keep this up and we won't need crap and tax.
Yabut, Seattle is setting record highs. I'll bet the MSM points that out.
Posted by: Alan on July 29, 2009 01:53 PMI live in Chicagoland and have yet to turn on my AC this summer. (I understand it was hot the last full week of June, but I was out of town that week.) I also believe that they said June was the coldest on record here in Chicago. I have had several mornings recently where I wake up to temperatures in the 40's. Many people are wearing jackets to work in the middle of the summer. But as we know, global warming is the cause of this global cooling.....
Posted by: Steve S. on July 29, 2009 02:13 PMI also live in Chicagoland and am familiar with the 40's morning temperatures. On those days I go out and start my car, my truck, my wife's car, and my daughter's car, and then just let them sit there, running. If I contribute enough to Global Warming, maybe the temperature will rise.
Posted by: Greg on July 29, 2009 02:20 PMGotdamn. Send dome of that shit to Texas. It's been hotter than the devil's kitchen here.
Posted by: kerrcarto on July 29, 2009 03:25 PMSo far, no summer in Toronto. In Manitoba, the grand-kids wear coats on their way to the beach....I guess the only one sweating is Balloon Albert, trying to explain why Planet Earth is not obeying his papal command.
Posted by: Claudia on July 29, 2009 03:28 PMSo far no 90° summer days here in NYC. June (and by the looks of things, July) was one of the coolest on record.
algore may not have invented the internet, but he sure as shit invented global warming.

110 yesterday and 110 on my shady porch as we speak..
but then we always have one week a year like this
Posted by: ty guy on July 29, 2009 06:47 PMNope, I think Jug Ears is sucking up all the hot air. The Washington DC area has had one of the coolest summers that I can remember and I've lived in this area over 30 years.
Posted by: Peri on July 29, 2009 09:21 PMWe already don't need crap and tax. I think what you meant is that others may finally notice what a waste it is going to be. Trying to limit an essential gas (CO2) which is already in short supply is criminal. If it continues to cool and we limit CO2, say goodbye to improved crop yields.
Posted by: Schmidt on July 30, 2009 08:55 AMI live in East Central Illinois, south of Chicago, and our summer has been like a Northern Wisconsin summer. We leave tomorrow for South Carolina for a beach vacation but a lot of people we know are heading north for vacation and they are grumbling that they don't need a Wisconsin vacation now because it feels like they've already had one.
Posted by: liz on July 30, 2009 10:32 AMI'm dreaming of the 70s. It was officially 104 yesterday in our town and I think our place was hotter. The AC barely takes the edge off. *sigh*
Then again, I'm not a moron and don't blame it on "global warming" because we get this weather every year...for about two weeks. And then we're back to the standard rain/clouds/sun mix.
Posted by: megscole64 on July 30, 2009 11:50 AMGlo..BULL Warming/ climate change news......
I just read a summery published in a Pennsylvania Sports Newsletter of a study mandated by the State & conducted by Penn State.
first this was a very scientific study complete with several computer modeling scenarios & climate studies for the last century.
Significant Scientific predictions for Pennsylvania....
1. 3 to 7 degree Fahrenheit temperature average
2. longer growing seasons
3. Hardwood forest disappearance
4. Milder winters
5.more precipitation...Rain
6. significantly less snow
7.Winter sports will be severely impacted
8. longer growing seasons by 2 to 6 weeks
9. Animal species replacements
10. More severe summer storms
Well, I decided to check the data which is readily available for verification for trends
First...... Individual day of the year temperature records ....366 individual days
Hottest.....
195 days before 1950 [53%] ,171 days after 1950 [47%]..... Hmmm! does not seem to match prediction`s
Coldest.....
129 days before 1950 [35%], 237 Days after 1950 [65%]......Geez, still does not match predictions
Second
Temperature records monthly for 10 of each month...120 months total
Hottest....
68 months before 1950[57%]...52 after `1950 [43%].....Am I detecting a contrary pattern here?
Coldest....
51 months before 1950 [42.5%...69 months after 1950 [57.5%] Yep,pattern does not match the learned environmentalist computer models.
Most contrary.....
Snowfall
Least snowfall.....
lowest 25 were all before 1950..[100%]
Most Snowfall
top 25 were all after 1950 actually in the last 30 years....[100%]
Dudley1 Predictions....
1.The scientific study is a steaming bowl of Liberal BS
2. Colder Temperatures continuing the obvious trend
3. Continued heavy snowfalls
4. Ongoing computer model adjustments ...just like all other climate studies.
5. More studies, more BS
