Geezer Power

Yannow, one thing I've noticed at these townhall meetings are that there are a lot of geezers attending. Of course, technically I'm a geezer now as well. I'm 62, I'm retired, and I collect Social Security. But I'm seeing geezers who are older than I am at these events.

What has the geezers so upset?

Being old does not mean that you're stupid. Jug Hussein Ears did not do too well with geezer voters. Maybe they're racist. That's it. They're against Obamacare because they're racist. Yeah. That's the ticket!

Perhaps they realize that Medicare is broke and putting the rest of the country on Medicare is not gonna solve the problem but is only gonna make it worse. The only way this flies is by drastically raising taxes or by drastically reducing services. Most geezers live on a fixed income and the last thing they need is to have their taxes go up.

Maybe they wonder why, if Obamacare is so good, the politicians are not gonna be covered by it? I wonder that myself.

Maybe they also wonder why this is being rammed through with no debate or bipartisan support. And Arlen Sphincter declared in a townhall meeting just recently that members of Congress didn't have time to read the bill. Why not? Why not take the time? How can these dipsticks vote on bills without knowing what's in them. Is that why we send them to Congress?

I saw one geezer state that JHE took six months to decide what kind of dog to get but wants Obamacare passed in three to four weeks.

They've noticed that a lot of the legislation that this Congress has enacted has been rammed through so quickly that no one has had the time to read the bills. Why? What's the hurry? Where's the debate? Is this any way to run a republic?

Maybe they wonder why Queen Blinky is calling them a bunch of Nazis.

The geezers are waking up and guess what? Geezers vote, and they vote at a higher percentage than the rest of the general population. Dimocrats are antagonizing geezers at their own peril.

Geezer power. Fear it.

I wrote my congresswoman (Debbie Wasserman Schultz - who always runs unoppsed) voted for crap $ trade and I asked if she read it. I got the "Dem talking points memo" as an answer.

I wrote back and asked her again if she read the bill. No response.

I wrote again and said that I know she didn't read it because she didn't have the time. If any businessman signed a contract he didn't read he would be fired.

Her approval of a bill she didn't read amounted to total negligence and incompetence regarding her appointed duty.

I demanded that she resign immediately.

No response.

So I'm stuck with this lib bitch because no one ever runs against her. She has 3 offices (not one) and money, power and contacts so running against her is too difficult. To hard to get the word out.

I have a feeling a lot of congress pricks have similar setups which is why the incombant has such an advantage.

I started to wonder today whether any of this crap that the AssClown-in-Chief has pushed through so far - and anything else that's coming down the pike - would stand up to a constitutional challenge in court. Would some form of class action lawsuit work? Obviously, I'm no lawyer, so (again) I'm just wondering.

Obviously the Republican Party is off in some cornfield yanking each other off, so they're useless. And they've become DimocratLite anyway.

Any legal minds out there have an opinion on whether a court challenge would have any chance?

Posted by: John Galt on August 11, 2009 07:34 PM

My brother & I have discussed this, and realize that he is a 1 term president, with a number of congressmen also being replaced in 2010. Therefore, if your gov't vision is 2 years, it gives you a lot of freedom to force thru as much socialist legislation as possible, before it becomes too late; thus the fight to get veto proof majorities in both houses, by any means possible.

Once they go as far as they can, and are replaced in 2010, the emphasis shifts to preventing any repeal of the legislation rammed thru, and even if they loose both houses, they will still have enough members to prevent repeal. Also part of this is the appointment of enough liberal justices to the Supreme Court, to prevent any successful court challenge.

Of course, looking at Saul Alynski, and the Cloward Piven strategy one could state that the larger intent is to try to produce a state of chaos where America fails, and they then step in and form the Politburo.

I used to understand that communism only came about at the point of a gun. It seems that this rule has changed if you look at Central and South America. The new rule is that new socialistic policies have to be implemented immediately, because we're all in a dire crisis.

Well, we're not in a dire crisis, and the Obama folks are finding that people are resisting the gradual move to socialism and then communism. It is interesting that the people pushing the Obama solution are the admittedly socialist/communist blocs, and the black segment of America.

I don't know how it happened, but the black community has been led to believe that socialism/communism is good for them. Apparently, they still haven't gotten beyond their belief that they were all victims of slavery. Then, as a contradiction, we have blacks from Africa and the West Indies that come to the U.S. and achieve what our native born blacks somehow can't.

I suspect that our education system has prevailed in teaching that everyone is a victim.

hmmm first of all, in the 1930's, the socialist party was the third party in this country. 2ndly a socialist isn't a communist. 3rdly All of a sudden Pete Seeger and the Weavers are cool, because socialism isn't a bad thing. 4thly, any geezer who is worth his salt doesn't use Faux News for information, because they are owned by the enemy, RE: The Corporate Government. The same one who has always called all the shots, and still is. Obama will do their bidding just like Tricky Dick, Ronny Raygun, Pappy Bush, and Duhhbya.

FYI Health care costs less in Great Briton and much of Europe and is more effecient than what you are paying through the nose for here. Why...
Because of the Corporate Government, Big Pharma, the damned insurance companies, lobbyists, and the best government that Corporate Government can buy.

By the way if you are a true geezer, you are on medicare. It's run by the government and is single pay, a form of universal healthcare, you just have to live long enough to get it. If you think that you will get health care through the existing powers that be...the ones that your apparently listening too, you're in for some mighty rough Sledding...Good luck...G:

I love it when people talk about things they know absolutely nothing about. My hubby has travelled in the UK and he LOVES to talk to people. He's a people person. Universal healthcare is not free or low cost, geezerpower fool. How old are you really? A 20 something who worships at the toilet bowl of Nobama? The problem with posting crap like this is that there are people in the US that actually travel and/or know someone in Europe. Taxes are so high in the UK, it puts a strain on a families. Most of the young people suffer from depression because they see no way to go beyond what they've been born into. There is no motivation to even try. These things my husband has learned in conversation with actual people during the plane flight, a bar tender he spoke with in a pub outside of London, a waitress in a restaurant. Now, I could be lying, but why would I do that? I'm not a criminal democrap trying to ram healthcare down your throat.

Posted by: phthaloblu on August 12, 2009 09:25 AM

I am old enough to know that bars and restaurants are not necessarily the best source of information.
If you can't see what has come down in the last eight years and the serious trouble we are in because of it, then I might as well not waste my breath. Freedomworks, tne right wing organiser for town hall meetings and ,so called, demonstrations is another remnant of the Bu$h administration headed by Dick Army. Army is associated with lobbyists from Insurance crooks, big pharma, and the Natinal Hospital Association, all of who benefit greatly by the highest profits on planet earth.

I am on medicare and it works just fine. I would like to see the same, single payer, healthcare plan for my kids, grand kids, and great grand kids. 72% of the American people, according to polls, want single pay healthcare. Many doctors also want it, so that they can run their practice without so many legal hassles, and red tape from the crooks mentioned above.

The corporate government, the banks, the insurance industries, big pharma, the hospital associations, lobbyists, and most of our so called reprentatives in government are in cahoots
and want it to remain just like it is.

The U.S. Health Care System is in great need of reform. When you compare the U.S. with other countries, it has the highest health care costs with 15.2% of GDP, highest percentage of government revenue spent on health at 18.5 %, and it has the lowest percentage of health costs paid by government at 44.6%. The U.S. has 2.56 doctors per 1000 people, 9.37 nurses per 1000 people, and life expectancy is 77.5 years, 5 years less than Japan. The World Health Organization rated the U.S. health care system performance in 2000 at 37th, and overall health of americans at 72nd place. Also, the U.S. spends more per capita then any other nation in the world, but is the only wealthy industrialized country in the world that lacks some form of universal health care.

Think about it...linus

Posted by: Geezerpower on August 12, 2009 12:01 PM

Geezerpower loves medicare do much that he wants all of his relatives on it, but doesn't stop to think that that would dilute the health (don't) care that he receives. He'll really love medicare when they add 12-million illegals to it.

He also refers to all the bad elements affecting health (don't) care, but somehow misses the tort lawyers (as does Zero).

Like Geezerpower, I'm now stuck with medicare. But, if I had the option I'd gladly trade it for a United Health Care plan.

As for all those right-wing organizers arranging for the protests, I wish that they would contact me so I could attend a town hall meeting. Where are the Prudential and Blue Cross buses? Oops! I'm sorry, they're not there because the SEIU buses have taken their parking spaces.

I lived in Europe for three years and the medical (don't) care there doesn't even begin to compare with what we already have in the U.S. Want proof? If the European care is so good, why do people from everywhere in the world come to the U.S. for treatment? Remember Princess Di? She'd still be living if her accident had occurred in the U.S.

Posted by: GeorgeD on August 12, 2009 12:55 PM

Geezerpower - All you have to do is mention Faux News and it shows what an idiotic Kool-Aid drinker you are. Not an insult but a fact. I just love it how you libs rag on Fox News. Fox News this and Fox News that. One conservative network opposed by the rest of the networks which all are liberal. Hardly seems fair does it, yet Fox is kicking ass. And the rest of the networks are owned by big business and they are liberal. So that shoots down your big business crap.

You're right that socialism isn't communism, but it's close enough. Remember that JHE is an acolyte of Saul Alinksky who is a Marxist. What is a Marxist? A rat bastard commie.

So let's talk about Medicare. It's broke. Putting the entire country on Medicare ain't gonna fix it. Also, the only reason Medicare is still viable is that it is subsidized by private insurance. Take away private insurance, which this will do and your care will quickly go down the tubes. You are trying to fuck yourself.

Nice to see that you're parroting the liberal talking points about Republican groups being behind the protests. Why not, since you have liberal groups like the SEIU thugs there beating people up. Republican style protests? Bad! SEIU thugs? Good! Amazing!

And let's not bring up life expectancy. Jesus H. Christ! I'm really getting tired of explaining to every new troll that that is not a good metric for health care. Take away the gang deaths in the inner city and life expectancy goes up. We have the highest rate of auto fatalities in the world. That drops the life expectancy statistics. Has nothing to do with health care. And we class premature babies more viable at a younger age. If they die, that goes on the life expectancy statistics. In other countries, they would be considered a miscarriage.

Now that you've spouted all of the Dim talking points, run off to Kos, the Puffington Host, or DU and get some more talking points that you can use to make you look like a fucking idiot next time you post here.

Posted by: Denny on August 12, 2009 01:01 PM

Spot on Denny - this idiot doesn't know the first thing about the health insurance industry or Medicare (much less Medicaid). It was funny, though, to read his drivel, like a point by point diatribe from the Obama lecture circuit.

There simply can not be any "savings" by having Father Government run health care. In fact, I'd like to see employer sponsored plans go away and have everyone be able to purchase the type of coverage they wanted.

More government is NEVER the solution - to any problem (whether real or imagined).

Posted by: John Galt on August 12, 2009 01:57 PM

Linus - my guess is that you want what I want. a prosperous fair country. a simple truth is that no country has ever been better at that then America and it is innovation and competition that are at the core of the DNA that got us there.

Government never created a dime of wealth. This contrived green jobs and Obamacare will be severly damaging if not ruinous to us. If govt wants to play policeman to the private sector health insurance companies and let them compete then theoretically I have no quarrel with that. They've done it in my business in spades for years. Med sups are a good example. In order to be marketed as a med sup they must comply with certain rules but private companies compete for the business. If that template is put on individual medical coverage then there will be little resistance.

The tactical error here is that Obama let Pelosi et al draw this up. they are the most liberal and profoundly stupid people in the room. It was dead from that moment.

Posted by: patrick on August 12, 2009 02:14 PM

You're right, all I have to do is mention Faux News. Without it Duhhbya would have never stole the presidency. What you may or not understand is that Faux News is the mouthpiece for the enemy, (the corporate government), of the common people. It is owned by Rupert Murdoc, one of the richest men in the world. I don't begrudge him for his wealth, but he is way over the top when it comes to media control and big money. He also owns The Weekly Standard, a neoconservative rag, edited by Bill Kristol, one of the signers for the PNAC agenda for permanent war. Then, of course he owns MySpace, where everybody creates a profile to be used by big business targeting. Then, a major media mogul with unbelievable control over what folks think and do, he bought the Wall Street Journal for $5 billion. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he went into the banking business.

Medicare is broke? Hell, the whole country is broke, except for the bankers and the insurance execs. who still get million $ bonuses. Do you think that we should have bailed those bastiches out. I don't...not when Duhhbya did it & not when Obama did it.

Anybody who has had their own business knows that you will go broke if you run on credit. If there is no money coming in, it is not a good time for buying inventory and if your business fails, you liquidate and try again after the tide comes in.

And I will bring up life expectancy. It is directly proportional to how much you can afford for your insurance plan, with regard to whether you develop a serious illness. Insurance companies will ultimately, at their convenience cancel your hard earned policy. Who is to hold them accountable? The corporate government?

Posted by: Geezerpower on August 12, 2009 03:59 PM

OK. It's official. Now I know you're a barking moonbat. First Fox News and now Bush stole the election. I guess next it will be Bush lied, people died. Dude! Do you even have an original thought? Did you know that three newspapers, liberal ones at that, went back and did their own recounts and using every method that Gore had demanded, Bush still won?

Once again. Fox News is only one network. One! And you have your panties in a wad. Aren't you satisfied having ABCCBSNBCCNNNSNBCNPRPBS and almost every big city daily newspaper in the country on your side? Are you that frightened by Fox News and the Weekly Standard? Obviously you are.

Yes. I was against the bailouts. I'm also against $2 trillion deficits. And the takeover of General Motors. JHE and the Dims are making Bush look like a piker. And if you think Obamacare isn't gonna cause even bigger deficits I really want some of that shit that you're smoking.

I explained why life expectancy is not a suitable metric. Your insurance companies refusing coverage is not as common as you think. Lifestyle choices have a larger effect on life expectancy than insurance coverage. You seem to think that gummint insurance is not gonna refuse benefits. I really do want some of that shit that you are smoking.

If you want to have an honest intellectual debate lose the Faux News, Bush stole the election, and all the other wacky liberal talking points. And be aware that wearing a tinfoil hat that is just one size too small can cause brain damage.

Posted by: Denny on August 12, 2009 04:21 PM

You stupid sheep! Not only did Bush steal the election but 9/11 was an inside job to protect his presidency. Down with Faux News!

Posted by: Geezerpower on August 12, 2009 04:54 PM

Speak for yourself, sheep. The only one I see here is you.

Time for the banhammer, boss.

Posted by: Grumpy Old Ham on August 12, 2009 07:32 PM

No, please don't ban this idiot. I LOVE seeing how dumbed down the other side is. This guy probably worships Jim Jones and his followers. This guy probably already reported Denny's website to the government snitch site. Please allow these conspiracy nut jobs their place to vent as it just goes to show that we righties still hold the intellectual high ground. Geezerpower, you sir/madam, are a babbling, brainwashed idiot. Thanks for your misinformation.

Boo hoo! Unfair! Denny edited my comment. I'm going to throw a tantrum right now. Boo hoo!

Bush stole the election.....In Florida the Democratic party identified the problem as being in heavily Democratic counties, in Democratic Precincts, under Democratic pollworker control, on machines certified by Democratic party officials using ballots approved by Democratic Party officials with a format previously designed & used by Democratic election official`s in previous elections......But somehow Bush stole the election.

For your information is the electoral college who actually elects the President, thus it is the electoral vote which is more important. As to the popular vote , it generally follow`s the electoral vote but not alway`s. Bush is not the first President to have won a majority of electoral votes but lost the popular vote so get over it.

Incidentally ....the votes were counted at least 4 times since the election in those disputed counties ,even the one`s which required a psychic to determine what the voter`s intent was & Bush won all the recounts.I say baloney to your insane ranting`s , grow up & get over it.

By the way were you as upset in the recent presidential election where many cities & towns under Democratic control had voter turnout in excess of 100% or did you just look the other way.

Geezerpower - This site has Rules. I expect them to be followed. You didn't. By your idiotic comments, you proved that you were a troll. As I state on the comments form, a troll's comments will be edited. It always cracks me up when you libtard trolls get so upset when I do exactly what I state I will do. I guess you are so used to Dimocrats breaking campaign promises, you expect me to break my promise to edit comments.

Run along little troll. Go back to the fever swamp of Kos where you can be among barking moonbats just like yourself.

Posted by: Denny on August 13, 2009 01:07 PM

Don't mind me. I'm just an idiot troll depositing troll droppings on my way to Kos after leaving DU.
