August Guild Function

Tonight I get to spoil myself once again and go taste some wines. In August, the Sommelier Guild of Atlanta usually has a Sauvignon Blanc tasting. This year, though, we are doing Northern California Whites. It will be held at Lola in Buckhead. Here be the wines and the menu.

Grgich Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Second Flight

Trefethen Dry Riesling 2007
Handley Dry Gewurztraminer 2008

Salmon oreganatta with fresh housemade pasta

Third Flight

Those are the only few hours when I believe in imposed, all around the world socialism, and think that I should be entitled to the same type of Dinners than an American SRF. Well, at least, I've been smart enough to put a bit of money aside for decent wines even if my food never reaches the Guild meals level. Great menu... Certainly would enjoy the sampling of sweets if nothing else.

Lolas? Is that the place that is such a pickup joint on Wedsdays? Not that I know anything about that stuff - I was just a nose to the grindstone associate when a senior associate dragged us somewhere.

Those three chardonnays show off the best of the North Coast -- at least, among wines that are readily available.

Lewis makes several bottlings of Chardonnay, as does Paul Hobbs... Which are going to be served?

Everything was right tasty... except for the Selene, which was so nasty they took the glasses away even after we dumped the wine out...

...and the food kicked ass. As one of the ladies there commented, "Best fucking dessert evah!"
