Tuesday Ron

Normally I give Ron Monday for one of his rants. This time it's Tuesday where he elaborates on what I posted earlier today.

As I heard from an old friend yesterday, let's see if we can figure this HopeyChangey Chicago-style Kenyan administration out.

Here's the way it looks so far . . . what "The-One-We've-All-Been-Waiting-For" wants to do is tinker with a health-care system that 85% of the people are already satisfied with so that 10 million people who don’t even want to be part of a health-care system will be covered, along with 12 million or so illegal aliens and a few million others who either aren’t eligible or interested . . . right?

He wants us to have a health-care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, and he wants Congress to pass it even though almost no members of that body have read it and they’re exempt from it anyway . . . that correct so far?

And at the bottom line, after Congress, who will never have read it, passes it and sends it up to the Alien-in-Chief, we’re supposed to live with it because it’s signed by an imposter who smokes cigarettes and hasn’t read the thing either, and it will be funded by a treasury secretary who didn’t pay his taxes, with money from a country that’s so far in debt that it’ll never get out, and it will be overseen by a surgeon general who doesn’t meet the body-mass-index guidelines for good health.

Hell, what on earth could possibly go wrong with a sweet deal like that? Well, let's look at some facts 'n' figgers:

U.S. Postal Service -- established 1775 - 234 years to get it right but it's broke, heavily subsidized, and can't compete with private sector FedEx and UPS.

Social Security -- established 1935 - 74 years to get it right; it's broke.

Fannie Mae -- established 1938 - 71 years to get it right; it's broke.

Freddie Mac -- established 1970 - 39 years to get it right; it's broke. Together Fannie and Freddie pulled the entire world into the worst economic collapse in 80 years.

The War on Poverty -- started in 1964 - 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our tax money is confiscated annually for redistribution to "the poor"; it hasn't worked.

Medicare and Medicaid -- established 1965 - 44 years to get it right; both broke; and now the government presents them as models for all US health care.

AMTRAK -- established 1970 - 39 years to get it right; despite bailouts it continues to run at a loss!

The Stimulus Bill of 2009: A trillion dollars committed in this massive political show. It shows NO sign of success except to increase the size of governments across America. It has yet to create a single new private sector job. Our national debt projections (approaching $10 trillion) have increased 400% in the last six months.

"Cash for Clunkers" -- established in 2009 and went broke in a matter of weeks. Most (80%) of the cars purchased were produced by foreign companies, and dealers nationwide are buried under bureaucratic paperwork demanded by a government that is not yet paying them what was promised.

War on Drugs -- well, let's just say it's not working despite billions of dollars wasted and thousands of lives ruined.

So now a rookie who may not even be qualified for the job of President wants us to buy into a system representing nearly one-fifth of our entire economy which would be designed, managed, and funded by a government which can't even turn a profit on a Nevada whorehouse?

Uhhmmmmm . . . let's think about this, guys. I mean, how is it any different from the one Slick and Shrill tried to foist off on us back in the 90s? Only thing I can see is that it'll cost more. And nobody's even read the thing?

I remember my grandfather saying to me one time on a cold winter morning when the furnace was acting up and the coal bin was nearly empty: "Boy, when you hear a man say, 'Tell ya what I'm gonna do for you, son,' don't let him do it TO you."

Thanks Denny for posting Ron's rant....how do we get this kind of message into the mainstream media?

Posted by: joe on August 25, 2009 09:15 PM

Sir,
Thanks for posting.
May I add the Department Of Education, which hasn't done anything to education except raise the cost?
And the Department Of Energy, which Jimmah created to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, and now has 100,000 employees, and we now get THE EXACT SAME PERCENTAGE OF OIL FROM ELSEWHERE.
(Just pulling down the low-hanging fruit. I'll save a few other obvious ones for other commenters.)

The swimmer just died. He will be cremated, and Massachusetts authorities estimate he will burn until Christmas or when health care passes. Dewars and Glenlivet scotch will be given money from the stimulus package to make up for the loss of the swimmer. When asked for comment, Mary Jo Kopecne said "blub, blub, blubb".

From: JAMMIE WEARING FOOL BLOG Aug. 26th:

(HEH!!! glad I didn't fall for this!!)

When something seems to be too good to be true, remember there are some sneaky Democrats likely behind it waiting to pick your pocket.

The Cash For Clunkers program is adding to the activity at treasurers' offices all around South Dakota. First, people were asking for proof of ownership, so they could show they owned their vehicle for a full year, allowing them to cash it in. Now, they'll be returning to register their new vehicle. And when they do, new owners need to bring every bit of paperwork provided to them by their dealer.

"That means they need their title, their damage disclosure, their bill of sale and the dealers have 30 days to get that to them," Minnehaha County Treasurer Pam Nelson said.

But many of those cashing in on the clunkers program are surprised when they get to the treasurer's office windows.

That's because the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable.

"They didn't realize that would be taxable. A lot of people don't realize that. So they're not happy and kind of surprised when they find that out," Nelson said.

You've been hosed.

The amusement here is how most (if not all) states compute sales tax (charged when you register the vehicle.)

When you buy a new car you pay tax on the difference between the new car's purchase price and the trade-in you present to the dealer. This is an intentional distortion in the law that is intended to favor dealers over private-party used car sales; if you sell your used car privately the new buyer pays sales tax but you do not get the offset on the purchase of your replacement vehicle - the only way to get that is to trade the car.

Dealers use this, of course, in negotiations, effectively pocketing the sales tax - and why not? It's a real difference to you!

But the "cash for clunkers" is not a trade-in. That's a $4,500 check from the government, basically.

So you get nailed at least once and possibly twice.

Specifically, you pay sales tax on the full vehicle price (effectively paying sales tax on the $4,500!) and what's worse those states that tax income (that would be most of them!) might wind up counting this as income for state income tax purposes too, effectively taxing you twice.

A brilliant rant by Ron.

85%?!?!? You gotta be kidding me. What's the citation for that number? I would like to look it up.

I guess if the ultimate measure of an organization is whether or not they remain solvent then this is very telling. Keep in mind that all government programs are "broke" in that they do not turn a profit and are mandated to spend all their allotted money. They are not motivated to make profits. So when you say "broke" it is misleading. But really, it doesn't matter.

In the private sector, would you call Trump a failure? He has declared bankruptcy how many times?

You also did not list any military spending since WWII. In case you forgot, the US has not won a war since then, and we have shoveled God knows how much money into that black hole.

wtf - We didn't win GWI? It accomplished the objectives of driving Saddam out of Kuwait. We also won GWII. It accomplished the objective of regime change. It's the occupation that we had problems with. Darth-Unix explained this many times on this site to other stupid libtards like yourself. I always wonder what assholes like you have against America.

wtr.....

You questioned the 85% satisfaction statement.....Here you go........

1.Quinnpiac University poll......85% satisfaction
2.University of Texas/Zogby Poll.84% satisfaction
3. Washington Post Poll for insurance 81% satisfaction
4.Washington post poll for quality of healthcare...88& satisfaction
5.FoxNews/Opinion dynamics pollfor insuranc e....84% satisfaction
6. FoxNews/Opinion Dynamics poll for health care quality ....83% satisfaction
7. CNN/Opinion Research poll for insurance....74% satisfaction
8.CNN/Opinion Research poll for health care quality....83% satisfaction
9. Employee Benefits Research Institute poll for Insurance .....88% satisfaction (58% very to extremely satisfied) (30& somewhat satisfied)
10. NYT Times poll for insurance.....77% satisfied
11. Democracy Corp Poll for insurance ....72% satisfied

There is far more here but I think you should get the drift. Notice I included polling data from across the political spectrum which illustrates widespread satisfaction....while I agree work needs to be done regarding costs ...where is the overwhelming need to Nationalize health care & ration care or change what is the best health care system in the world?

Understand this very clearly....Obama has an agenda which transcends healthcare...He & his accomplices in the House & Senate are liars, it is all about power & control not healthcare. You & all of us need to be very aware & checkmate his personal ambitions at each & every step. Now open your eyes to the truth all around you.

WTF, wtf?

It is NOT misleading to say these programs are broke. Trillions of dollars of unfunded liabilities is broke in my book. Going broke is not exclusive to for-profit entities. If you owe more than you take in, you're broke. Simple, eh?

wtf- since it's been discussed here, and the facts are out there for anybody to find (if they are interested in fact, of course) that the US withdrew troops from South Viet Nam when the North agreed to stay (with their Russian and Chinese allies) within their own borders, I fail to follow your logic that we have "not won a war since" WWII. Logic tells me that you are either ignorant or a lyin', pos troll. Oops, I forgot the third option, that you're both. I'll go for #3.

I get the impression from Denny's blog that a majority of his happy campers are anti-government. Well, so am I, I'm a libertarian (although some "planks" of the Libertarian Party turn me off, like open borders). But the majority also seem to be pro-Republican (please tell me I'm wrong) and that the world would be a better place without Democrats (well, maybe). Republicans and Democrats both couldn't give a fucking rat's ass less about you or your liberty. Democrats want you to be a happy go lucky slave of the state and Republicans want to shit all over the Constitution, expecially the first ten ammendents. Both are wrong and both should be roundly condemned on virtually every issue because even when the Republicans seem to make sense, they have a hidden agenda that has nothing, or the opposite, to do with your pursuit of happiness. A pox on both their houses!
