For the record, I never joined AARP. My mother did, but if she were still alive, she would prolly opt out now. She only joined it for the discounts.

Sent to me by many readers.
That's an image from Gran Torino. I highly recommend that movie. Walt's not looking for handouts, he just wants the Humong off his lawn. We should all be lucky enough to retire that way.
Posted by: red collar on August 31, 2009 01:54 PMI just watched that movie on Saturday. Loved it. Hated the way it ended, but Clint does mean and nasty old guy quite well.
Posted by: Tina on August 31, 2009 03:55 PMMy sentiments exactly ! ! I joined AARP 10 years ago for the discounts (discounts are available to us codgers without the membership). Because of the left wing possitions that they took, I let my membership run out 4 years ago.
Posted by: Ken Hawkinson on August 31, 2009 06:10 PMDon't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.
Posted by: Hugh on August 31, 2009 06:19 PMGood flick. I guess I will have to join the new AARP.
Posted by: kerrcarto on August 31, 2009 07:55 PMkerrcarto, I'm already in.
Posted by: Jeremy on August 31, 2009 08:18 PMI stole the pic for my blog. Shamelessly.
Posted by: PawPaw on August 31, 2009 08:22 PMTina, think about it some more.
He doesn't believe in heaven, went to church for his wife, doesn't care for the 27 y/o virgin preacher.
And yet...he takes his final act in this universe directly from the young priest. Bittersweet. Redemption.
And point in fact, had he NOT beat up that Humong punk, perhaps Sue would not have been beat up. He was the root cause of that unpleasesentness.
Self sacrifice. That's the final lesson Walt learned in his life. At least, that's what I took from that movie.
And like he said: They didn't have a chance to get out of it.
I LOVE that movie.
Posted by: red collar on August 31, 2009 09:21 PMMr Eastwood makes some fine films. He's a man I'd definitely buy a beer.
Posted by: pdwalker on August 31, 2009 09:58 PMI liked him a lot until he started making pussy movies like Bridges of Madison County and million dollar baby. He used to be the tough guy then made these wuss flicks. Although I did hear this one was good, I haven't seen it yet. He's still a great American and last I heard, was on the "right" side of the isle.
.... so are you really that well armed?....... or do you need some help?.....
Posted by: Eric on August 31, 2009 10:28 PMI never thought I'd be the guy who owned multiple guns. I have 3 and have been jonezin for my fourth. went on a recon mission this weekend. only a matter of time.
This was a fine movie. I think it was the second best of last year behind "The Wrestler". Marisa Tomei......dammmmmmmnnnnn...
Posted by: patrick on August 31, 2009 11:53 PMNot his best one (I found the script predictable and stereotyped). But the worst Eastwood's movie (which it was not) is always a good movie.
Posted by: Prosper on September 1, 2009 03:55 AMIt's about time Patrick! Glad you finally got off yer ass and made a purchase or three...
I haven't seen this one yet but it's #1 on my list of "to see" movies. Clint Eastwood will always be a badass...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on September 1, 2009 05:00 AM3 or 4 guns ?!? Hmmmmpf...Liteweights...How about EVERYTHING from Black Powder to a 100% legal Class-3 Uzi...Guess I have close to 125 loudenboomers..

Might be a good chance to beat Jay Bookman's ass.
And fuck you prosper.
Posted by: fubar on September 1, 2009 08:28 AMDamn, Sandy G., you gotta have a hell of an ammo bill! I don't mind keepin' me eye in burnin' up lots of .22lr with the Beretta Model 70S to stay in practice, and the .22/.22Mag revolver and rifles are cheap to shoot, but the larger bores could break me if I shot 'em as much as the little ones. Now, my neighbor just got a .50 on an AR platform. That's some serious jingle to feed! Sure was fun when Uncle paid me to burn up ammo. My qualification scores weren't as good with the .45, M14 and M16 as they were the the machine guns. ;^)
And AARP can kiss my a$$! They seem to exist solely to sell insurance and feed politicians.

Posted by: Inbred Redneck on September 1, 2009 10:03 AMThe new AARP......
Count me as a member in good standing.
Sandy ....I am alway`s envious of one who has more firepower then me.....I am a little shy of 3 figures & have from black power to heavy magnum`s but no class 3. Probably rank ahead with ammo & reloading gear.
CharlieDelta.......My Stag Arm`s left hand AR-15 finally arrived,it took 41 week`s..... baptized it last week end. I put an NC-Star 3x9 tactical scope with 3 levels of red & 3 level`s of green illumination. Punched 3" groups at 100 yds with Wolf ammo & 2" with Lake City Mil ammo.I think I will do better with my reload`s.
My son`s Bushmaster upper crapped out but that will be covered under warranty. He is supposed to show me how to upload pic`s so I can forward to you.

Great, Dragon*Con is also in Atlanta this weekend. You won't be able to tell the Freaks from the Idiots.
Eastwood is Blondie ... and that's good enough. :)
Posted by: PeggyU on September 1, 2009 01:29 PMI have a friend who sells "medi-gap" for BC/BS. She said she's getting calls from pissed off old folks who want to dump the company endorced by AARP and sign with her. Screw you AARP. I wouldn't join even if they paid me annual dues. Commie bastards.
Posted by: Ric on September 1, 2009 01:42 PMPeggyU - Nice GB&U reference.
Posted by: Denny on September 1, 2009 01:49 PMThe Uzi is VERY Big Fun ! Most people are initially terrified of it, but I've yet to have someone shoot it who doesn't have a big, silly, sh!t-eatin' grin on their face afterwards...Women wanna go find their ex, & see what kind of excuse he comes up with then for no child support check...Also have 4-5 FALs, HK-91, M-1A1, M-1 Garand, BM-59 Beretta, AR-10, AR-15, Mini-14...The list goes on. Most fun gun however, is the little lever action .22 Browning. Damndest loudenboomer is the .50 Mag S&W 500, it feels like WW2 goin' off in yer hand...PrezBo can have 'em if he wants 'em...Write me a $100K check, & I'll deliver 'em to the Oval Oriface...
Posted by: Sandy G. on September 1, 2009 04:19 PMRight on Dudley1. Congratulations! My Stag Arm's left handed upper is almost built and ready for action. Once I get my barrel I will be in like flinn. Can't wait to see the pictures...
Posted by: CharlieDelta on September 1, 2009 06:54 PMI love you guys.
Clint works both sides of the aisle, people. I don't blame him for that.
Just keep away from Mystic River and you'll be fine.
Cheers.
