Fantasy Versus Reality

Well what do we have here?

WASHINGTON — The White House acknowledged for the first time Friday that it might not be able to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay by January as President Barack Obama has promised.

The heads are prolly exploding at Kos right now.

Senior administration officials told The Associated Press that difficulties in completing the lengthy review of detainee files and resolving thorny legal and logistical questions mean the president's self-imposed January deadline may slip. Obama remains as committed to closing the facility as he was when, as one of his first acts in office, he pledged to shut it down, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to more freely discuss the sensitive issue.

Fantasy meet reality.

Obama promised soon after taking office — and many times since — to close the prison, arguing that doing so is crucial to restoring America's image in the world and to creating a more effective anti-terror approach.

But eight months after Obama's pledge and with only four months to go before the January deadline, a number of difficult issues remain unresolved. They include establishment of a new set of rules for military trials, finding a location for a new prison to house detainees and finding host countries for those who can be released.

There is a reason these dudes are at Gitmo. Too bad Jug Hussein Ears doesn't understand this.

One Big Assed Mistake America.

As I said, on the European blog, to people who are starting to wonder when Obama will do what he said he would do, "Surely, you didn't believe him, did you? He lies a lot. He's not lily-white, y'know! Oops! Wrong adjective. I must be a racist. Stop sniggering, Claudia." I'll probably be thrown out soon...

Ding-Dong from Iran is not very scared of BozObama. He's detonating nuclear stuff two days before his first meeting with the most powerful man in the world. Why not? Smart Big Ears just told everyone at UN that all countries were equal to USA. Buddy-buddy...Shake hands...Pats on the back... No more American big boss (like Bush) bullying everyone to get things done. The New Friendly America...All in one, and one in all. He's such a fool! A very dangerous fool, alas!

The Grand old Irish are doing their usual Martyr thingy (assholes):

Guantanamo detainees sent to Ireland

“The Irish Times” newspaper

27 September 2009

Two detainees held at the US military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been sent to Ireland, the US Justice Department said yesterday.

A third detainee, Yemeni Alla Ali Bin Ali Ahmed, was returned to his home county.

The Irish Government has requested that the US authorities do not disclose the identities of the two detainees.

The latest transfers comes as President Barack Obama tries to close the facility by January.

Ireland said previously it was looking at taking in two Uzbek prisoners. The United States has worried about sending some of the prisoners back to their home countries where they might be persecuted.

Claudia - He graduated from Harvard. He has to be "smart". Personally, I'd take honest over smart any day of the week.

I am just wringing my hands fretting about how many of our "traditional allies" we've alienated by leaving this open since last January. France? Spain? will you CAN you ever forgive us??

Obama promised soon after taking office — and many times since — to close the prison, arguing that doing so is crucial to restoring America's image in the world and to creating a more effective anti-terror approach.

What a crock of shit! I'm so tired of this "restoring America's image in the world" bullshit. The only image I want to send to the world is that if you fuck with us, you are going to pay a price. A heavy price. And I'm sorry you pacifist libturds out there, panties on a stinkbeard's head is not torture. Humiliation maybe, but not torture. If we're going to be accused of torture, I say we should do it the old fashioned way. Glowing red hot ice picks through the fingernails, baseball bat to the knee caps, ears cut off, etc. If we're going to be accused of it anyways, why not capitalize on it?

Second, how in the hell is closing Gitmo going to create a "more effective anti-terror approach"? Those words sound happy and cute and feel-good, but it doesn't mean shit. What a joke!

That is about all that Ireland and Great Britain need - these alQaida wanna-bes and their controllers in the Middle East aligning with the IRA. The IRA may have signed a non-violence "treaty" of sorts a few years ago, but now that these alQaida types are going to be there, that "treaty" could very well go out the window, especially with Middle Easter oil money sure to arrive in Ireland to fuel and finance things for the IRA in ways they didn't have before the "treaty", things could, and probably will, get back to the same old same old, but on a larger scale if the IRA has access to seemingly unlimited money for their nefarious operations.

It could very well happen.
