Danny Boy Lost

Speaking of dopes, Dan Rather lost his lawsuit against CBS.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A New York state appeals court on Tuesday dismissed former TV newsman Dan Rather's lawsuit against CBS Corp in which Rather claimed he was made a scapegoat in a scandal over a 2004 report on then-President George W. Bush's military record.

The ruling on Tuesday by a panel of judges of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division said Rather's $70 million complaint should be dismissed in its entirety and that a lower court erred in denying CBS's motion to throw out the lawsuit.

Oh Danny boy the pipes the pipes are calling

Rather says CBS breached his contract by not giving him enough on-air assignments after he was removed as anchor of the "CBS Evening News" in March 2005.

From glen to glen, and down the mountain side

The appeals court ruled he failed to sufficiently support his claim that he lost business opportunities due to CBS's failure to release him to seek other employment.

The summer's gone, and all the roses falling

Rather sued CBS, parent of the CBS television network, Viacom and others in September 2007, claiming he had been made a scapegoat to "pacify the White House." CBS was part of Viacom until the companies split in 2006.

'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.

Too bad Danny Boy. After your long career you will be remembered most for your trying to use fake memos to affect a presidential election. What makes it even worse is that you still believe those memos are real.

And CBS? You went from Edward R. Murrow to Walter Cronkite to Dan Blather to Perky Katie Couric. You may as well shut down your news organization.

Says much when a comedy news parody (the Daily Show) has more timely, more accurate and more honest news coverage than the "real" network news programs. I haven't watched the "news" for many years now.

Dan Blather's attorny says they'll continue the fight. Of course the reason for that is so the attorney can suck more money from Blather's bank account.

I never thought I'd say this but, "WAY TO GO ATTORNEY, ATTA BOY!!" Dry that sumbitch'a account completely up and leave the old commie nut case to rot in some seedy State Home for the Terminally Inane.

"Courage".... you worthless, rat-bastard, mealy mouthed fucking HACK! Let your "courage" be your segue into richly deserved scorn, and then total abject obscurity.

The weird thing about those fake memos was that they were *obvious* fakes. Anybody of Rather's age knows instantly that proportional fonts were generally unavailable for that sort of document. But Rather and CBS stood behind them and denied reality. In fact, I recently heard someone restating history, claiming that CBS had merely run a mock-up in order to illustrate the story.

Not that it would surprise me if strings were pulled to keep GWB out of harm's way. Everyone was pulling strings if they could. Doesn't seem to have swung any elections. Draft-dodging Clinton defeated WWII-serving Bush Sr. and then WWII-serving Dole; America-damning BO defeated McCain. But, whatever the reality of the GWB history, Rather took a fake story and screamed it from the hilltops as truth. He's damaged goods.
