A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.
If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)
If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues.
About this last one. When I was still walking fulltime, I slipped on a damp surface in a Kroger store. You should have seen all of the employees that drew. Everyone was very concerned. The store manager found me later to make sure that I was OK. I'm sure they were worried about a lawsuit. It never even crossed my mind until later. I wasn't hurt. I just fell. I do it all the time. I was more embarrassed than anything else. No harm, no foul.

Recently "Bill" posted that he understood this was a far right wing website but wanted to be educated ......Well he can start with what you posted , the only thing I would add is we who have conservative views ,ideas or opinions as little as 60 years ago were middle of the road normal American in political position......It has been 60/70 years of Liberal Socialist treason & badgering which has moved the goal posts to the point they can say with a straight face we are far right wing or that the Democrat party represent`s traditional American values.
Freedom is not free , you have to work at it , protect it & at time`s fight to keep it. We are fast approaching the latter position as far to many people in this country have forgotten what this country was founded on or for.Our enemy within is far more dangerous then our foreign adversaries as many seem to be the neighbor down the street , our main stream media, the elected official`s who routinely work against our freedoms & the entire welfare /give me/I am entitled infrastructure of society which bleeds this country like a leech sucks blood.
I know most of America do not recognize the danger this country is in as they do not think liberal`s like Obama, Reid, Pelosi,Dodd & the rest of the Liberal Democrats are working to subvert the America as was established by our founding fathers.They want to establish a Socialist regime, & at this point are not only winning but perilously close to seizing total control as most of America is stupid or naive to see the danger we are in.
The coming mid term election `s are likely our last chance to stop the slide to Socialism before a revolution occur`s. That is what I see coming & it will not be pretty if the final recourse is revolution.

I think it’s a statist who gets the government involved in marriage in the first place. A marriage is a legal contract from the government’s perspective. I think we’ve already dealt with the legal aspects of gay marriage. If churches and other religious institutions want to take a stand, I think that’s their right, and the free exercise clause of the first amendment should allow them to do that. Having said all that, change "liberal" to "statist" and add my item:
If a conservative doesn’t like gay marriage, he doesn’t have a gay wedding. A statist makes gay marriage illegal.
Now, before you light into me about my views on homosexuality, let me hasten to add that I think that homosexuality is an unnatural perversion that should be treated more like a disability than celebrated as a lifestyle choice.
But if we're going to be intellectually consistent about liberty, then I think we need to be consistent, even when it hurts.

See, if you're a turd burglar or, let's now add a "married turd burglar" in the military, you're fired. That is the BJ Clinton policy. Now all the butt pirates and carpet munchers are going after JHE over his camping promises with addressing Don't ask, don't tell and marriage. That change I doubt will see the light of day.
Now, you say that you think that bone smokers and canyon yodelers "should be treated more like a disability". Fair enough. Now, that said, what would your bases be making homos, single or married, fit to serve in our military? Is it the malfunctioning "unnatural perversion" in their make up?
I really think all this has nothing to do with one being a statist as you allege with anyone that is against gays being recognized as equal in marriage.

It sucks that in 60 or 70 years all that has happened has been treason and badgering to push you and those with similar views into the corner or far right side. Can you imagine the protections or special laws that gay and lesbians would get if they where treated like they had a disability. That is the problem they should not be treated any different then others in the eyes of the government. As far as churches or "eyes" of god that is a different story. To me marriage is the union of a man and a women under the eyes of god. As far as the government, there should be a civil union to ensure certain legal rights are protected.

Fukitol, I think the distinction between "liberal" and "statist" is crucial. It is liberals who seem to want the government to control anything and everything, so most liberals are statists, but conservatives can be statists about some things too. I have a problem whenever you get the state involved in enforcing any ideology or personal preference.
Our founders did not want the government telling people how to live their lives, they wanted government to provide a framework upon which we could build our lives, by protecting us from our enemies, both foreign and domestic. You may have noticed that, of all the things that government does these days, protecting us from our foreign and domestic enemies, is one of the government's lowest priorities, and least popular functions.
My definition of tyranny is special interests using the force of government to shove their agenda down your throat. Churches do it, environmentalists do it, homosexuals do it, large corporations do it, "minorities" do it. About the only people who cannot, and do not do it, are small businesses and individual citizens. We are the only true minorities left these days.

We who are of the conservative belief have not been pushed into a far right corner of any political position, it is those of the Liberal Socialist mindset who have moved far to the extreme leftwing & have taken the media along for the ride & posture themselves to be moderates.
Do you understand the word "LIAR"? This is the true description of a Pelosi, Schumer , Reid, Obama, Clinton,Barney Fwank or any of the other dim bulbs who lead the Democratic Party everytime they speak.
I suggest you read & reread the collected thoughts of our founding fathers to gain a real appreciation of the unique Nation they established with a modified democracy recognizing the will of the majority but established individual right`s guaranteed for every citizen to protect individual choice or decision. These right`s were & still are inviolate with The Legislature prohibited from abridging & the Judicial Branch sworn to uphold & to protect.
A review of the last 60/70 years will easily establish which political group has worked to subvert individual right`s which interfere with their agenda......Here is a clue, it has not been the Conservatives.
This is the fundamental problem today in that far too many American`s are unaware of just what this country is supposed to be. This has been by design as the Liberal Left controls our educational system & does not teach or stress the fundamental principles of our form of government & works everyday to undermine it`s foundation.
Many of our fellow American`s have chosen to accept Government handouts as a right. The concept of self reliance,to provide the neccessities of life for themselves is not an option. Intead they obediantly stand on the doorstep of Federal , State & Local Government yelling "Give Me". Individual success is discouraged & punished with punitive taxation to redistribute money from those who earned it to those who offer only party loyalty to the Democrat`s.
Most American`s are too stupid & naive....Yep! they are, but this has been by design as those without a clue can be herded like sheep & sheeple they become lining up at the public trough gorging on Government handout`s all the while surrendering individuals right & freedom. We are far along the road to a Socialist system with a ruling aristocracy.

I think you forgot every other politician when you defined liar. I think it has been a very long time since we have had any politician who's number 1 skill is not pulling the wool over the voters eyes.
And as of now we are living with "will of the majority" like it or not that is what we got.
And as far as education, teachers are currently teaching students to pass the achievement tests that No Child Left Behind has established as indicators of learning. They need to do this so their schools do not lose money. So you are correct their is no hope as of right now.
Oh and right on bout the marriage!!
