It's that time of year again when the Sommelier Guild of Atlanta holds its annual Champagne tasting. This year it is at Lola. We've been there before. Below are the wines and the menu.
Speaker’s wine:
Gloria Ferrer Chardonnay 2006
First Flight:
Ferrari Carano Tre Terre Chardonnay 2007
Domaine Chandon Pinot Meunier 2005
Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir 2007
Chicken Piccata with white wine, lemon, parsley, & capers
Second Flight:
Mumm "Cordon Rouge" Brut NV
Taittinger “La Francaise” Brut NV
Bollinger “Special Cuvee” Brut NV
Grouper with fingerling potatoes, artichokes and basil
Third flight:
Mumm Napa “D.V.X.” Brut 1999
Roederer Estate “L’Ermitage” Brut 2002
Schramsberg “J. Schram” Brut 1999
Grilled pork tenderloin with Chilean plums and onion
Dessert
Mumm Napa “Cuvée M” NV
Lemon curry gelato
You may notice the first flight consists of still wines but they are made from the same grapes as Champagne.
Elisson will be there which will give me an opportunity to talk about the upcoming annual Aubrey-Maturin dinner that he and Houston Steve are doing later this month.
Posted by denny at December 6, 2009 04:36 PMDenny - What would be the thoughts of the SGA regarding a bottle of Perrier-Jouet '83 Champagne?
(It's been kept cool since I bought it.)
Thanks.
We have no future. Enjoy it now!

Is there something special about Chilean plums ... or does it just sound better than: Grilled pork tenderloin with plums and onion?
