Dude! Their lead guitarist has seven strings on his guitar! What's up with that?
Damn! That lead player is rippin'!

Posted by: CharlieDelta on March 21, 2010 05:55 AMChris Broderick plays Ibanez 7321 and 1527 7 string guitars with Bare Knuckle pickups in the bridge and neck position. 7th string gives extra low notes.

Posted by: kerrcarto on March 21, 2010 11:27 AMDidn't you post this back in December?
Posted by: Ralph Gizzip on March 21, 2010 01:23 PMRalph - I'll be damned, I did. Old age is a bitch. The memory is the second thing to go and I can't remember the first.
Rusto - Their singer ain't too bad either. He used to play lead guitar for Mettalica until they kicked him out. That was when he formed Megadeth.
Posted by: Denny on March 21, 2010 06:37 PMWhen I saw Primus open for Rush a few years back, Les Claypool was playing a seven-string BASS. Of course, he's the greatest bass player in the world, but...seven strings on a bass?
The lead singer for Megadeth is Dave Mustaine. He's originally from Canada, I think.
Mustaine is a big lefty. And I'm obviously not talking about his fingering hand preference. Makes sense he's from Canada.

Posted by: Felonious Monk on March 22, 2010 12:39 AMThe guitarists from the band Korn have always used 7 string guitars & a 5 string bass too! I've also heard Les Claypool tell a story about how he wanted to be in Metallica when he was younger. Then when they lost the 2 members to a bus accident, he decided to audition to be their new bass player. But they told him he was too good to be in Metallica!!! It broke his heart to hear that even though it's a compliment!
Posted by: Gearatio on March 22, 2010 05:04 AMGearatio, Korn fucking sucks!
Posted by: Paul on March 22, 2010 07:00 PMDave Mustaine is a lefty? Damn, is nothing sacred anymore. I've been listening to these guys since the, well, way back then. What a shame that all of our pop culture "idols" are libtards. Oh well, just shut up and sing, eh?
Posted by: Van on March 22, 2010 08:08 PMAwesome! Going to see Megadeth play tomorrow night here in Houston, and I can't wait!
As far as Dave Mustaine's politics, he has been all over the map. He has been a big lefty in the past, then a more "moderate" lefty in recent times. During the "United Abominations" period, while he still opposed the Iraq war, he at least called out the U.N. as the corrupt cesspool that it is, and was hawkish on the war against terrorists, which led some people to call him a "neocon". He claims he voted for Bush in '04 because he couldn't stand Kerry, but now says he regrets it. Nowadays, he hangs out with the Alex Jones crowd, with his latest album "Endgame" based around Jones's conspiracy theories about the New World Order, and borderline Trutherism.
In other words, his politics are as messy & chaotic as his career and personal life have been. Meh...as long as he keeps the killer riffs coming...
