May Guild Event

Tonight, I'm hauling my cripped ass down to Paul's in the Peachtree Hills area of Atlanta. we will be drinking Merlots of the world.

Many of you might have seen Sideways, which I think was a terrible movie about two horrible human beings. Some of my wino friends liked it because it was about wine. My friend Michael, the wine buyer at Green's in Atlanta, said it really increased the sales of Pinot Noir. The movie bad mouthed Merlot. What it didn't say was that there are many fine Bordeaux made from Merlot grapes.

Here are the wines and food we will be consuming tonight.

Speaker’s Wine Beringer California White 2008

First Flight
Sant’ Venezia Giulia 2003
Banfi “Mandrielle” Tuscany 2005
Casa Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Colchagua “Apalta” 2007

Vegetable stuffed tortelloni, sage pecan brown butter, pecorino cheese

Second Flight
Aux Trois Frères Côtes de Castillon 2005
Château Taillefer Pomerol 2005
Château LaFleur Morange “Mathilde” Saint-Emilion 2006

Blackened Atlantic salmon, Ellijay apple salad, sugar snap peas, balsamic reduction

Third Flight
Woodward Canyon Columbia River 2001
Kenefick Ranch Napa 2005
Stephanie (by Hestan) Napa 2005

Char-grilled lamb chop, forest mushrooms, eggplant zucchini tart, rosemary rosette potatoes, caramelized garlic au jus

Trentadue Chocolate Amore NV

Chocolate pecan bread pudding, caramel sauce

Update: The food was delicious. The wines, not so much. My favorite was the Trentedue dessert wine. They also had a blonde waitress who was a real babe. Ah, to be 30 years younger.

You can keep the flavored acetic acid / ethanol blends but that menu sounds delightful, especially flights 2 and 3.

I just want the Trentadue Chocolate Amore as a drink, and a few drops over Vanilla Ice Cream. Thank you!

Man, and me sitting here with left over meatloaf and a diet Pepsi. Yes, I am jealous but also glad a SRF like yourself still has the rights to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Hope you had a great time!

I ain't jealous; I got sumpthin even better!

This is me, DanS. posting under the auspices of my neighbor, the Dinosaur Ridin' Christian!

I'm within mere days of launching my Last Great Road Trip:

It has a 'name': "Miles Upon Miles of Meeting Cougar Mom's" ... and it has an acronym:

It has the unique property of not being able to be pronounced unless you are intimately-involved.

Sort of like what you eat & drink at your Guild deal.

An offer:

Shoot me dead as I enter your area & Space; elsewise, realize that your womanfolk are at risk.

Such is the reality of me without benefit or notion of things political.

You seem to have a need or desire to state things in sudden-death terms:

I just did.

I am embarking on one last Tour of these United States, Border-to-Border, North-to-South, East-to-West, top-to-bottom.

Before there were 'blogs', there was once a place, a repository, where like-minded adventure-travelers would check in.

What was reposited there was nothing more, and also what was most-profound, and nothing less was simply an exchange of experience. No one had to 'buy' into anything simply to have a say.

SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE rather than what you are told!

RESPECT ME (as I respect you!) based on what YOU say rather than what someone else Sez!

A Year from now, I'll be dead & gone. What irks the Fuck out of me is that somehow "you know me better" than I know me!

Yeah? Really? Then Why I got to die?

Have a nice trip and tell me when you get to Oregon I'll buy a good-bye Beer

Sometimes I wish I could do the "wine" thing. Most people I come across that are drunk on wine are usually pretty happy drunks; laughing and having a great time.

The others were loose wimmen that couldn't keep their legs closed unless the wine was gone.

I am embarking on one last Tour of these United States, Border-to-Border, North-to-South, East-to-West, top-to-bottom.

You better look me up when you make it to San Diego, motherfucker. You can't die on me before you have that free upper-cut that Paul and I promised you. After you knock me out, take the drive up I-5 North for 18 hours and take care of Paul before you start pushin' daiseys.

At least let me buy you a beer when you make it down here...

Well, Denny, so how went the night of Drinkin' 'n' Debauchery ?!? Didn't end up in the Gwinnett Co. Calaboose, didja ? (grin)

The hell with the food and booze.

Did the blonde waitress have nice aureoles?

There was a lot of stupid stuff in Sideways, but I did laugh out loud many times during it. I never heard some of the dialog because the audience was laughing too loudly also.

Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont; then the St. Lawerence route all the way to Duluth, MN.

I-35 South down to Laredo, TX.

Amble west after that until San Diego.

CD: I have 8 weeks and a fresh credit card; U tell me: when am I gonna be there?

All I want is those last 3 magnets for my cubicle at work. After that, BANG.

SandyG - I didn't go through Gwinnett on my way home, only Fulton and DeKalb.

Toejan - She didn't show them to me so I wouldn't know, but she did have a nice bra full. She also had a pretty face and a nice smile.

sounded great ... wish I'd been there ... saw Sideways, and the one guy was a super jerk, but it did do Merlot in ... I love Shiraz, which Im drinking now ... from Down Under ... has that taste I love: kinda like one is licking sweat from a saddle while mounted on a Kangaroo headed from the Coast to Alice Springs to buy a pint ...
