HERE ARE ALL THE DEVELOPED NATIONS OF THE WORLD THAT OFFER BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP TO THE BABIES OF TOURISTS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS:Posted by denny at November 26, 2010 03:04 PM1. United States
That's right, every other modern developed nation in the world has gotten rid of birthright citizenship policies. Yet, most of U.S. news media and politicians the last two weeks have ridiculed the comments by some other politicians that it is time for the U.S. to put an end to birthright citizenship for tourists and illegal aliens.
Folks, sadly, the U.S. stands alone. There used to be all kinds of Developed countries that gave away their citizenship as freely as we do in the U.S. But one by one they all have recognized the folly of that policy.
SOME MODERN COUNTRIES THAT RECENTLY ENDED THEIR BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP POLICY:
a. Canada was the last non-U.S. holdout. Illegal aliens stopped getting citizenship for their babies in 2009.
b. Australia's birthright citizenship requirements are much more stringent than those of H.R. 1868 and took effect in 2007.
c. New Zealand repealed in 2006.
d. Ireland repealed in 2005.
e. France repealed in 1993.
f. India repealed in 1987.
g. United Kingdom repealed in 1983.
h. Portugal repealed in 1981.
The United States is the laughing stock of the modern world.
Only the U.S. values its citizenship so lowly as to distribute it promiscuously to the off-spring of foreign citizens visiting Disney World on tourist visas and to foreign citizens who have violated their promises on their visitor, work and student visas to stay illegally in the country, as well as to those who sneak across our borders.
It's not just Mexico and South America who are sending illegals across our borders. Currently, the CBP reports that of those apprehended illegally crossing the border, China is number one.
Wake up America!!
Illegal aliens from China, India, Russia, the Middle East and a host of other nations are flooding the country. Ironically, most often these illegals and/or their offspring are given positions at the front of the line for Government jobs, contracts and assistance.
Look around you! We are giving away our culture, and economic and fiscal strength because our borders are not secure and we bestow citizenship irresponsibly.
For clarity, I didn't write that -- just forwarded it.
Posted by: bocopro on November 26, 2010 05:02 PMAn acquaintance of mine recently became a U.S. citizen. The long way, visa, green-card, years of residency, a test and the pledge. I don't think I've seen her that happy in years.
On the other side of the coin, we have the law-school graduate from California.... Don't you have to take classes in ethics (and pass them) to get a J.D.?
Posted by: stine on November 26, 2010 07:37 PMThe crazy ass liberals will never allow it to be repealed. They think they're standing up for someone when the result will be the destruction of their own offspring. That's what you call an educated elitest idiot.
Posted by: Scrapiron on November 26, 2010 08:45 PMIn places like NE Tenn, where I live, the epidemic of mamacitas & newly-minted "citizens" is threatening to overwhelm the local social services..But of course, I'm being Rayciss, ain't I ?!?

Posted by: Bill on November 27, 2010 08:38 AMI can't tell for other countries. But your assertion about France is bullshit. Every child born on french soil can choose to become a french citizen when he is 18.
Posted by: Prosper on November 29, 2010 03:01 AMit is true that U.S is definitely getting flooded by outsiders but look at it this way loads of americans also settle down in other countries.I am an Indian and i know a few of my relatives working in U.S who were actually hired in India and sent to the U.S purely because of their merit.

Is the following not true?.......
The 1993 Reform act required children born in France of foreign parents to request citizenship at adulthood "age18" rather then automatic citizenship.
The Manifestation of will provision was abrogated by the Guigon law of 1998 leaving children with foreign parentage born in France to remain foreign until obtaining...."Legal majority".
Does not this "legal majority" have a minimum age requirement, a residency requirement of 5 years,an gainful employment requirement, a language proficiency requirement, an understanding of the legal structure & customs of France as well as request, petition or application for consideration which takes about 18 months to process & may require additionally appearance before legal governmental bodies "Courts" to prove eligibility before "Legal majority is considered let alone granted?
This does not sound automatic to me & has obvious control`s which limit who or how many are accepted or allow for denial of citizenship to those deemed to be undesirable.
Based on my internet research it would appear children in France born of Foreign parentage may request not choose citizenship at 18 but they need to prove their merit or value to France before that request being granted.
I am not saying this is wrong or bad......actually it is something we here in the USA should review with an eye for adoption to bring our illegal immigration problem under control!
You're right Dud, a child born in France of forreign parents must certify living in this country for at least 5 years to become a french citizen when he is 18.
But his citizenship becomes a matter of form. No need to prove any kind of merit. So we didn't end our birthright citizenship policy.
But yes everyone must request citizenship. It's not automatically gained (to avoid double-nationality).
