Awesome Video

Wanna see me skiing? Here I am.

Untitled from ryan latham on Vimeo.

You can see an epic fall where the camera came off my helmet. I make the best monoski falls on the mountain! Thanks Ryan! I really had fun skiing with you and I'm sorry I whacked your knee with one of my 'riggers. You're the best monoski instructor on the mountain! You're prolly the best all around ski instructor on the mountain! I'm sure you agree.

That video is awesome! That looks like so much fun. You make it look really easy. As someone who perfected little more than how to fall and loose both ski and boot, I am very impressed. Especially by the ending.

We will have to do a video this summer of how you shred the rocky terrain of the Texas Hill Country.

Oh hellz yeah Denny!! That looked fun!! Nice tumble there at the end :D

Yeah wow, that looks great and fun. Good editing too on his part. I have a question though, as someone who doesn't spend a lot of time on a mountain; when you crash, is it like golf, where you have to repair the hole you put in the mountain with your wipeout? :-p

Your monoskis look ten times harder to operate than anything I'd be willing to try. Awesome vid.

Awesome Denny!!! That was some good skiing, but you are no Sonny Bono. )

Good job. You can be proud of yourself.

Big deal - I fall like that while skiing all the time. First and only time I snowboarded I cracked a rib.
Looks like a blast. Keep having fun before it is legislated away.

Great video, Ryan. Thank you! I saw this last evening, Denny, on the previous comment thread. And I kept re-watching, laughing and clapping hands. And I yelled, "You're going towards the trees. Be careful!" You're brave, Denny. Also very skilled. I can understand why you're persisting. It looks like so much fun. Hope you didn't hurt yourself with the fall. I'm thinking of linking the video to my Facebook for my friends. I hope it's OK. Bravo! and Cheers!

Harper - Yeah take a video of a sloopy drunken old cripple. There's already a video of me singing Rocky Racoon.

Josh - No. You don't create a very big hole and there's a huge snowpack.

dpddj - I can top you on that. I got a subdural hematoma on my first day of skiing last year.

Claudia - Link away.

Thanks, Denny! Fabulous addition to my Facebook page. Now I'll need one with your deep-sea diving.:)

Holy crap that was awesome!

Awesome Denny. I kinda had an idea how the whole rig works by your descriptions and still pictures, but seeing it in motion put all the pieces together. That looks like a lot of fun.

denny,
my knee is alright, just sore, but it won't slow me down. you should see the bruise though.

anyways, I don't agree, I'm not just the best ski instructor on the mountain, I'm more like the best ski instructor ever. like in all time.

like if michael jordan and labron could have a love child with bode miller and shaun white....I would still be better.

hahaha, you are the man, come back soon

Posted by: ryan on February 16, 2011 07:49 PM

You got it going on, man!!!

I agree with CD - the visual definitely puts together the whole picture of what you've been describing all these years. Thanks for sharing and have a blast with your remaining time.

Ryan - WTF was I thinking? Of course you are. Look at what you did for me, a decrepit, grouchy, old cripple. Looking forward to skiing with you again, unless, of course they canonize you and you have to move to Italy or sumpin'.

Posted by: Denny on February 16, 2011 09:09 PM

Ryan..."love child with bode miller and shaun white..."?!? Knowing your opinion of Shaun White, that assessment has to be objective!!

Great video! You have a lot of skill--that looks much harder than "normal" skiing. I used to ski, so know how much coordination and muscle control is required in the sport. I had enough trouble on two skis, can't imagine it on one--and coordinating the outriggers without crossing a ski, or catching an edge. You make it look easy--bravo!

Don't hurt youself this year Denny....

Wait till next year when you have Obamacare to handle the bills!

Very cool! I have never skied (very bad back and VERY uncoordinated) but that looked like lots of fun.

Farookin' fabulous. You've provided me with tomorrow's post!

Posted by: Jim - PRS on February 17, 2011 05:25 PM

Wonderful video!
But what's this "tumble" talk? Isn't that the way you're supposed to stop?

Posted by: joated on February 17, 2011 06:16 PM

Denny....

Far out! Kinda reminds me when we were kids & bunch of us would to go down some of the mountains in the Alleghany Forest "More like large hills" on a Plymouth car hood with just two ropes to try to steer with.Of course we had an advantage in being able to jump when a tumble or tree was imminent. The good old days, think your method of skiing is much harder to master.

awesomeness

Incredible! Sure looks like fun!

Posted by: MC on February 18, 2011 02:26 PM

Awesome! I love it when the snow covers the lens at the end. Looks like you were having a blast!

Posted by: Corky on February 19, 2011 05:37 PM

That is frickin' FANTASTIC, Denny! You really make it look so easy. I suck on two skis, I can't even begin to imagine what it's like on one. You make it seem like you just float... well until the end. Wow. Wiping out on one ski seems kind of scarier...

Posted by: Bou on February 19, 2011 11:25 PM

F'n A Skippy! Looks like a great time

For someone who can't use his legs, you sure can kick ass. WTG, Denny!
