Saturday Bach

I have the tablature for this piece so I may try to learn it. The transposition I have is much simpler than this.

I just finished relearning the Bouree below. I learned it back in the 80's but didn't play it enough so had to sit down and relearn it. I don't play it anywhere near as good as this guy does.

Bach is such a joy to listen to, but not easy to play. Yet, (although I'm never truly satisfied with the results), it's always a deep pleasure to practice my few pieces of Bach. It gives me peace and comfort. I'm sure you had fun relearning the Bouree, Denny. Tape it a few times until it's ready for YouTube. I would love to hear you. As it is, the Cello piece looks a bit hard. I'm glad you have a simpler version. Good luck!

Sorry Claudia. I'm just not that good. Fortunately, most of the people who listen to me are tone deaf. You will never see me on YouTube.

Denny - Then it will have to be from the next Blownstar meeting. I'll arrange that with the Criplets. Although I'm not sure you'll play Bach for the group. They're more into Metal music, I guess...

"You will never see me on YouTube."
Arrangements can be made ...

Cheers

That is a very nice piece. Bach's Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring may be the nicest piece of music ever written.

Claudia - I took my guitar to Blownstar and I never played it which pissed Georgia off. It's also the first time I haven't played at Blownstar. It would have been a hassle to get my guitar from my room to where we hung out but I'm sure I could have gotten someone to do it for me. The ranch was a lot more convenient as well as private. Too bad we couldn't swing it this year. Also, Alan wasn't there. He plays as well or better than I did in my prime. I actually practiced this year so I wouldn't suck like I did last year. I've been practicing about an hour a day now. Last year I couln't play Jesu worth a damn. This year I can.

Past Your Eyes - I play Jesu much better than I play the Bouree. Altho' I learned the Bouree first back in the 80's Jesu is easier to play. The guy who turned me on to the Finger Picking J. S. Bach music book suggested I start with the Bouree, which I did.

Denny - It's a shame if you had your guitar at Blownstar and didn't use it. Music adds so much to the fun of those meetings: old friends, a few drinks and old songs. I could never bring my piano anywhere of course. But I played recorder (tenor) when I was young, another friend played the alto. We would get together with the gang and everybody sang. If I had known that it was possible to play Bach on a guitar, I would have had one.

If you practice those pieces one hour a day, you'll be good in no time at all. Please, try to get someone to tape you at the next Blownstar. If not on You Tube, you could put it at the same place where you had your ski video. And we would all love it.
